  1. why are these three schools ranked do differently in US News and NRC?
  2. Applying for IR subfield. Confused by these rankings. NRC ranking, US News ranking, or TRIP ranking, which one is more convincing?
  3. do uk universities fund overseas students for PhD programs?
  4. So you mean no funding can justify my transfer? This is an unfunded offer and that's why I want to transfer. My decision between attending the unfunded offer and work depends on whether transferring will make me less competitive compared with other direct applying students.
  5. Nice to have your advice. It seems that transferring students are at a disadvantage. Worried.
  6. Now admitted into a so-so school without funding for the first year. Do you think it is OK to take the offer and reapply this fall into a better one? Will this cause trouble for me and irritate faculty here? I'd like to hear advice.
  7. That's terrible! I will never make that much money all my life....
  8. An urgent question: I have received an unfunded acceptance from GWU. Then do I need to pay tuition about 4k dollars each year? Or, I only need to cover my stipend with an exemption of the tuition? PS: anyone knows any information about external funding for non-US citizens? Thanks very much!
  9. No offense to anyone. This is March 1st, so I believe many of the people on this forum have wrapped up the cycle. I called G-town and GWU. Both schools send out offers not at one time, but on different waves. So, if you have much better programs and decide that you won't attend these two schools, pls decline them early to help those on the next wave. Maybe you can save someone. If you are still considering whether to attend, feel free to keep them and visit these schools to make a wise decision. Anyway it's a five year commitment. Hope everyone get their ideal offers!
  10. I am not sure whether anyone can help me call GWU whether they have done offers or not.
  11. why is everywhere so competitive? I should apply for less competitive programs. Sigh...
  12. then how many will they admit? and how competitive is the program?
  13. You mean those schools are still very competitive, same as Ivy League?
  14. a question: how many people do DC schools, like Georgetown, GWU, American, admit each year? and how many funded?
  15. Congratulations on those who have got great offers so far! And, if possible, please withdraw from second-tier schools that have not accepted people yet. This will not harm you since you have already got much better offers, but will benefit lots of applicants who have nothing now. If you can withdraw early, you will create chances for those less competitive applicants. Thanks for all the kindness! God bless those who help others!
