  1. Same here. I emailed her this week and got no reply. I also emailed some one else at the end of Feb asking if they were still expecting to send out more acceptances and got no response either. I am so mad at them now. Since I've been emailed them twice with no response, I don't know if it's a good idea for me to call them. Have you heard anything back from them, gradschoolroulette?
  2. I understand. Actually, I'm also waiting for UCLA and UNC... But for the biostat program... If any of them gives me an offer, I will definitely go there. Good luck to you!
  3. If you are not too anxious to know it right now, you can wait until you come and check in at the school. Before they pay you the first month's stipend, they will ask you to fill out some online tax report form, and you can find the answer about the treaty there.
  4. If your country has some tax treaties with the US federal government, you can be taxed at a reduced rate, or even be exempt from the taxes.
  5. Wait, is tax rate for fellowship different??? I think the city tax withholding rate is already 2.5%... Anyway, what I am saying is, if you need to pay taxes for fellowship, you should expect the rate to be much more than 2.5% in Columbus. The rental prices depend on a lot of things. Usually, it ranges from $300 to $700+ for a single room close to campus. If you want to find a one bedroom or studio, be prepared for at least $550 a month; if you want to have roommate(s) to share the rent, usually you need $400 to $600 for a decent to nice place. I'd say Columbus is a nice place to live, and is still less expensive than most major cities, but the winter here is toooo cold for me... Congrats to your fellowship! Have you decided to come to OSU?
  6. I think that's definitely enough for most people's daily lives here. But for me, I will expect to spend it all if you need to pay taxes. (I am not sure if fellowship needs to pay taxes.)
  7. I didn't check my friend webpage, but I did get their rejection letter last night. It was mailed on 2/24. You can email the coordinator to ask your status. I emailed her before I received the letter, and she just sent me the digital version via email. Good luck!
  8. UMich, UCLA, Berkeley, Emory, UNC, and Yale. All for biostats.
  9. Congrats! I'm stilling waiting for their call... Did the professor anything about the acceptance rate?
  10. Maybe you are right. The 150 from last year was for PHD ONLY. But the professor didn't mention if the 300+ was phd only as well.
  11. You are right about Washington. My rejection letter did mention they have 300+ applications this year. It is crazy this year. Michigan had "only" 150+ applicants last year and on average 130+ in the past several years. But this year, 300+!!!
  12. I consider that as an phone interview. However, the questions were pretty generic. Everything he asked was either in my CV or my SoP. I don't know if he called because I am an international student and they want to know my communication ability. I still remember the last question was "do you think you could be a TA." But he really didn't say anything about accepting me. I am also waiting on Michigan. This is so far the only school that contacted me... FYI: the professor told me the application is extremely competitive this year. They got 300+ applicants...
  13. Congrats! Did the professor tell you via phone that you got admitted? I also got a phone from one of the professors last Monday, but in the end he didn't say anything about acceptance. He just told me that they will provide every admitted phd student full funding during their phd study. Sounds like a lot of money.
