I'm still juggling ideas about what to do about finances of getting an MFA when no one has offered me full-funding. So I have booked a trip to SFAI in mid-April (they are giving me until May 1st to make a commitment), and I'm going to see if they can convince me that taking out $60,000 in loans (and paying it off for the rest of my life) will be so minor in comparison to what I get out of getting an MFA there. or if they can convince by that by attending their school, that I won't be working extra jobs to make a student loan payment. good idea? bad idea? thoughts? (however, I also think that I'm going to have a really hard time not falling in love with San Francisco as soon as I step off the plane)

An acceptance would balance out the world again.

Wow, Rutgers REALLY wanted me know I was rejected. Yesterday, I received my letter via snail mail from Mason Gross that I was rejected. Then Rutgers' admissions sent me an email today, also letting me know that I was rejected. I hope that no one else go that too.

Dear Mr. Mailman, Stop bringing me Thin Envelopes of Doom, please. Acceptances only from now on. Thanks, One Anxious Soul

Me, too. I was hoping to be notified of my acceptance after some people had turned down the april 2nd deadline. No chins are down over here! I've still got 3 schools to hear from and 3 schools waiting to hear from me.

Rejection from Rutgers, ugh!

Don't forget all of us that had to take out loans for undergraduate. If i take out the loans needed to go to the places I've been accepted, I would walk away from school with an MFA and about $100,000 in loans. I'm actually considering re-applying next year to see if I can get full-funding.

Time means nothing if no one (schools) is saying anything.

If this is the case, then I'm really disappointed in UPenn. They could have broken our little hearts months ago. When I was looking up and researching schools, none of the schools (except for NYU) even stated that they required an interview to be accepted. Plus the way that she worded the email made it sound like if you got the email you were accepted, "view your notification letter and financial aid letter."

I was a little offended that they sent it to me in the first place, so I deleted it without even opening it. Sorry.

Got an email from Arizona State today, letting me know that their tuition for next year has changed. Thanks for letting me know even though you sent me a "Deny" Letter at the beginning of February. Ugh!!!

I hope it is because everyone is making art. I know for me art is a cartharsis that helps me deal with life. So I'm hoping that this process is not stopping anyone from making anything. If anything, use it as a catalyst to make something outrageous and new.

That deadline is probably so that they dont have to do waitlist notifications. If people refuse the offer, then they can notify their second, third, etc, of acceptance. Hopefully.

That is good to know because Hawaii wants an answer by March 17th. I thought it seemed a little too early.

MassArt's was very polite too. It was along the lines of ...it wasn't the quality of your work, just too many applications...

Just got a rejection from NYU. Finally!!! (could see it coming before it crossed the horizon)

I think that this is the equivalent of making sure the pre-nup is suitable before saying yes.

I haven't heard anything from Tyler...good or bad.
-
I sent you a message about it. And I'm totally jealous of Rutgers. That is actually my top choice.

HOLY MOLY!!!!!! 24k is more than I make at my regular full-time job.

Two of my schools have stated that they won't have decisions until mid/late April. Thanks CUNY! (Brooklyn and City College) But hey, I REALLY want to go study in New York.

SFAI told me that I was accepted in the middle of the interview (probably not what you wanted to hear) but I have spoken on the phone a couple of times to the Director of Graduate Admissions, her name is Jana, and she seems super nice. She would probably give you an update as to your status.

I know of some people have been accepted and rejected and have actually been notified. But both of those people were painting. Has anyone that applied for the sculpture program heard anything? Even just a finalist notification? My app status still says i have items outstanding, but the person in the admissions office told me that mine was "complete and under review" and that the Temple grad school updates that not Tyler itself. So obviously they are a little behind on notifications/updating. My new attitude is "I am not rejected til the school tells me themselves" even then i still might send them a rejection to their rejection letter.

I feel the same. I feel truly lucky to be in this position pursuing goals that some people can't. But life goes on, and we also can't stop and wallow in the "what if's" and "could/should have been's," but count ourselves fortunate that we even get the chance to pursue graduate school and careers beyond that.

Nothing like walking out of your home to go to the studio to see an apartment building down the block burning to the ground to truly put all of this freaking out and stress over graduate school in perspective. Everyone that lives in the building is alive and accounted for with minimal injuries. Makes you see all of this differently.
