  1. Hii Dentist24, Congrats for obtaining visa and getting ready for your fall studies. @Manthan, congrats for your acceptance to SFU and pretty much we are going to be in the same MPH stream. Welcome to the SFU crew. And for those still waiting for their official offers and acceptance, i wish you all the best. Keep your spirits high!
  2. SFU Crew, Its nice hearing from those who will be attending this Fall. Yes, about housing i am leaning towards off campus. With some great tips, advises, and research; i will be living off campus and having roomates will possibly minimize some costs. Any more ideas or thoughts are welcome.
  3. Ginnie, Congratulations on your acceptance to SFU. Welcome to the SFU crew and i believe its going to be a fun academic year. All the best in the rest of your preparation. @Zee2012, wishing you all the best as you wait for your offer. It will come at any moment from now.
  4. Thanks @MPH 2012 for sharing. Though i am finally going to SFU. Is there anyone who have ideas or more information regarding off campus housing at SFU besides what is provided online?
  5. Hii Everyone, It has been great and fun sharing and reading from all of you. I received my official acceptance into SFU for my MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health yesterday. I am wishing all the best for those still waiting for their offers or to make their final decision. For those already accepted to SFU i believe we shall have a great academic year for i am looking forward for September. @Linten, are you finally decided on pursuing SFU? For all those accepted into USASK, @Dentist24, Anant, Ginnie, and everyone else; unfortunately i have to decline my U of S offer. The SFU official offer is really appealing. I wish we could all stay in touch even after joining our prospecting schools. Anyone wishing to stay in touch you are welcome to message my inbox. Till then lets all strive for the best in our endevours while always staying focus as we impact communites plus the rest of the world in our various fields of Public Health. Once again, THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE AS IT HAS BEEN FUN AND EXCITING!
  6. Hii Everyone, Congratulations to all those who have been accepted and given offers. Finally, i received my SFU admission offer today and i am supposed to respond to the offer before April 18th. What a huge relief!!!
  7. Congratulations to everyone accepted into the U of T and thanks for sharing.
  8. @Montrealer, Thanks for sharing the info from SFU. Its nice to know when to expect hearing from them.
  9. Hii Dentist24, I had done some research before regarding UBC, SFU, and USAK. Through some alumni friends and one professor, here is my findings. Both schools are a great research center, though U of S has more famous reasearch centers like VIDO, InterVac, and CLS. UBC has a high reputation with different great programs, but their MPH is too general. U of S has great programs too and their MPH is very elaborated. Both schools has great funding, however international students benefits from more funding from U of S. In addition U of S is the only institution in Canada with partnership with CDC in Atlanta USA. Also U of S is soon being accepted into the Association for Schools of Public Health of the European Schools (ASPHER). Hopes this helps!
  10. Hii Anant, @Dentist24 is right regarding registration. I did call last friday and was informed that early familiarization with PAWS is of benefit to students in the long run.Yes,when registrations begins in June, there will be more instructions on how to do it.
  11. Hii @Anant, There is actually no link to accept your core. But i believe that all enrolled students in MPH begin by enrolling in the same classes. Then as time goes by,each individual continues to pursue their concentrations.
  12. Hii Dentist24, Anant, I do agree with you both that the way PAWS is set up is very confusing. I wish they had even separated the email link from the rest. I am still waiting to hear from SFU with their offer. However, I am for living off campus, particularly with some roomates since housing can be very expensive. By the way, what are your concentrations in MPH? @Ginnie, wishing you all the best with blessings as you wait to hear from CGSR. And the rest of MPH hopefuls, remain positive while waiting for your chance.
  13. Congrats Anant. From your profile it indicates that you are in East Africa. That means most likely you will be getting your study visa/study permit from Nairobi Kenya. Meanwhile as you are waiting for the official letter in the mail; you can google Canadian embassy in Nairobi and search for information regarding study permit. Make sure you start getting ready all the requirements that are listed. By the time you receive your letter, make sure you submit as soon as possible since they(embassy) too have their deadlines. All the best.
  14. Hey Dentist, I also did register at the PAWS. What are you going to pursue?
  15. Hii Ginnie & Anant, Accepting admission offer from U of S does not have a deadline. When i received mine they refer you back to the online profile you had created then you just accept. I have received my official letter of admissions, however they did send it twice. Regarding Graduate School expenses, this is what i found out from their link: As of May 1, 2011, international graduate students are assessed tuition at 1.5 times the posted rate for domestic students in the same program. Students in the Master of International Trade, Master of Public Administration and Mater of Public Policy are currently exempt but may be assessed an international fee. Posted Tuition rates are tentative for September 2011 to August 2012. Term Domestic Amount International Amount September 1 - December 31, 2011 $1,103.00 $1,654.50 $1,103.00 $1,654.50 $1,103.00 [*]$1,654.50 Total per academic year [*]$3,309.00 [*]$4,963.50
