  1. Hello DV, Thanks for the reply. Any advice is much appreciated. I do plan on meeting with my PI to discuss but figured it would be nice to walk in with a general list even if it's a large one to start with. I noticed that most schools don't have a dedicated NeuroE group/dept but can still have professors that work in that area. Some schools have the freedom to collaborate with neuroscience depts. For example Yale has a program that allows students to "define" their own program and allow collaborations. It's a young program and isn't quite at the level of MIT and Hopkins. So I'm also looking for the "hidden gems" so to say.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm currently pursuing my MS in BME and researching in neuroengineering/neuroscience. I plan on applying for phd programs and just need help sorting through schools. Can you please list/suggest some schools that do work in neuroengineering? TIA!
  3. It's fine. All the material I've read say 2 scores are the max.
  4. I applied and was accepted to Penn GSE with a 510v 690m 5aw. GRE really isn't a big part of the application. LORs and SoP are far more important
  5. Just wondering, do you have any research or publications under your belt? I'm nervous about my lack of an engineering degree.
  6. Hmm... this is making me reconsider a MS in BME. I'm mainly interested in biomechanics, neuro and tissue/celluar but I don't want to graduate and be unmarketable. Would majoring in ME or EE with a specialization in BME be the way to go then?
  7. ^ Thanks for the info! That eases my mind a bit.
  8. It sounds like I should be able to take the advanced Phase I requirements at a state college to save money too. I'd like to take as many prereqs before starting graduate school as possible. Boston sounds like an expensive city to live in. Does anyone know the approximate acceptance rate of LEAP students?
  9. Ah, here's the 2010-2011 annual report! Pages 32 and 38 of the document itself talks about enrollment and admissions. It may not show LEAP but I can definitely see that it's gotten very competitive. http://www.bu.edu/bme/files/2011/10/2011-BME-Annual-Report-_web.pdf
  10. Here are some admissions stats from 2008-2009 annual report. Just go to page 49 of the document http://www.bu.edu/bme/files/pdf/2008-2009AnnualReportCombinedFile4.pdf
  11. ^ Congrats! If you don't mind sharing, how did you do on the GRE?
  12. So, I didn't major in STEM as an undergrad. I teach. Long story short, I'd like to get a MS in BME. I've heard that a second BS is a waste of time and most don't accept 2nd BS students. I plan to take the prerequisites at a local college before applying. Some stats: Undergrad: large state university, degree is BS in technology education GPA: 3.75 GRE: 690Q, 520V, 5A (old test)- I do plan to retake it to break 700Q Could you please tell me some BME programs that would accept someone without a STEM degree? I know the odds are stacked against me since I have research or publications but this is something I truly want to pursue and have thought about.
