  1. If you haven't already done so, I would follow up with the Admissions office. I know someone who was admitted (not off the wait list, just regular admission) just under 3 weeks ago, so it seems they are still in fact making decisions. Good luck!
  2. Sne, did you get your remaining info yet? I'm all set (finally) and have signed up for one of the required Webinars. Still a little overwhelmed at the prospect of registration though... taking baby steps for the time being.
  3. There was some confusion about another NYU student ID I had on file so my official admissions materials and financial aid info won't be sent out till tomorrow at best. But it's on the way, which is a start...
  4. Not yet. I'm leaving for a trip tomorrow and am planning to call during the day to see if everything's on track. Will post if I learn anything useful...
  5. Hi all, I'll be at Wagner as well, in the PNP program. Looking forward to meet everyone!

    NYU

Sne1103 - I am! MPA/PNP, part-time at least to start. Just responded to the Wagner F 2009 thread, too...
  7. Policy_applicant, Fes, Traveler, Pepper etc... thanks! I was admitted off Wagner's waitlist yesterday, no doubt due to admitted students like a few of you who chose to go elsewhere. I have some financial decisions of my own to make -- a 50% scholarship to Milano/The New School is tough to pass up but I have reservations about their very specific degree options (nonprofit management or urban policy, no MPA) and like many others on this board I am a sucker for the prestige factor. NYU has been my first choice all along and I risked it by skipping the GRE, a decision I made long before the economy sent so many MBAs and other quant-savvy folks the way of the MPA program. That choice likely cost me scholarship consideration, and definitely nearly cost me admission... so I consider myself very lucky it worked out this well. Good luck at school this fall, all!
  8. I am, and I'm having a very difficult time with it! Actually, what I am having a hard time with is deciding between my two second choices when neither of them offers just what I want. Unfortunately, as I am waitlisted at my top choice (NYU Wagner) and may not hear anything until May or June, I will have to go ahead and make a decision that I am comfortable with... by tomorrow.
  9. For what it's worth, NYU Wagner confirmed for me yesterday that candidates admitted off the waitlist do not get funding. I asked what happens to scholarship money offered to students who decline, and was told their money goes into the pool for current students rather than being offered out to waitlist admits. I was also advised that if scholarship consideration is important to me, I might consider asking them to hold my app for spring semester admission, which is less competitive and does come with the possibility of scholarships.
  10. Rose, I would double check with SIPA on this: "they seem to say that people will not be eligible for any *merit* aid in their 2nd year, which I believe is also the case with SIPA." I went to a SIPA information session in the fall where they strongly emphasized that although most applicants do not get merit scholarships 1st year, many (I think they even said most) get some or a substantial amount in the 2nd year. It seemed as though they want you to work for it there, rather than handing it out in advance.
  11. Tasg just curious - did SIPA tell you they were taking people off the waitlist on a rolling basis, or did they tell you it would be much longer and then surprise you with the acceptance earlier than expected? I ask because Wagner said June and I'm curious to know whether other schools do it the same or differently.
  12. Firefly, I definitely don't know the answer to your question about redistributing funds once students with scholarships decline, but you raise another interesting question for the group. Do waitlisted students ever get scholarship funding? I would have assumed no, that if you weren't competitive enough to get in the first time around then you're lucky to be in and they aren't going to throw money at you later... but as a waitlisted applicant hoping to get accepted to my first choice school, I would love to hear otherwise!
  13. Thanks fes_alum -- I only applied to schools here in NYC, where I live and work, so I'm really hoping it works out. Congrats on HKS, to you and everyone else heading there, and good luck in your career(s)!
  14. I heard about an hour ago that I was waitlisted; hopefully they've released all the decisions by now and no one has to wait out the weekend. So all you folks accepted at HKS and WWS and SIPA... reach for the stars and clear up some space at Wagner for the rest of us
  15. That is good to know, Sne1103, thanks. I've been resisting the urge to call for a status update because I bugged them a lot right as my application was being submitted in January (they misplaced some of my materials, including a scholarship nomination, and it was a giant headache for all involved). For those of you who have been accepted, did your status in Wagner's online application system change to reflect your admission? I've been logging in to check frequently, but it would help to know if there's any point in continuing to do that. Also, anyone know if rejections come via email like acceptances? That would be kind of depressing, so I guess it's best to prepare myself for the possibility!
