  1. Reynolds, for long term residents of Marblehead
  2. I just got an e-mail about a restricted scholarship, so keep your eyes peeled.
  3. Aaand I just realized I never submitted my class visitation form. Crap. Ah well.
  4. See you there! Haha. Should be fun.
  5. To be fair, most M.Ed programs in Higher Ed funding tend to be pretty well funded, or tie a lot of aid to your getting an assistantship (which you'd want anyway for the experience). Siince you have some time, I'd look into scholarships from professional organizations within higher ed (like NACA, NODA, etc). The awards are usually pretty small, but it's a start. There are also some general scholarships for graduate students you might be able to seek out that can be applied to any field, it just takes a bit more searching and they also tend to be small.
  6. Sweet, thanks for the update!
  7. I'm coming right out of undergrad as well. Pourtant- I have the same thing. I spend thursday and friday at Harvard, then saturday I have to bus out to the western half of the state to visit UMass
  8. I don't know your price range, but there's a hotel near the redline at JFK/UMass for about 135 a night (plus taxes I'm assuming) which isn't too bad. Doubletree
  9. Did anyone else get a call from the higher ed program? Alliknits- if you don't find anyone, let me know. I live a 12 minute walk or so from the red line (about 20 minute subway ride from Harvard). If I have enough heads up I can try and get it cleared by my room mates. We have an extra twin mattress we are able to drag into the living room for guests.
  10. Is anyone else constantly looking through the pre-matriculation site and poking around/re-reading everything? Or am I ju
  11. For anyone else accepted to the higher ed program, I called admissions to double check the open house since the program wasn't listed with any others. I'm on hold now, and it seems like there's a separate event for higher ed students missing from the side bar. They're talking to tech people now. I'll update this post as I learn more UPDATE: Higher Ed student open house should be online in about ten minutes according to the women I spoke to in admissions. So if you log in any time after 1030AM EST it should show up.
  12. Program: Higher Ed Applied/Accepted: Harvard and UMass. All about the funding, but hoping to make Harvard happen.
  13. Got mine all set up too. Looks like Higher Ed is on the 29th based on their welcome message, but they aren't listed anywhere...
  14. I saw that too. I'm not sure where we fall....
  15. Accepted into Higher ed! I still can't believe it.
  16. What are you missing? From the looks of their website they will just be starting to look at financial aid packages and will let you know if you're missing anything/what they need. It might delay funding you get, but I think they'll ask you for whatever's missing it looks like.
  17. Agreed. I'll add my stats to the results survey, whenever we get our notification. C'mon, the office should be open, just send out those e-mails!
  18. tut, based on the last couple years, it looks like it would come out today or tomorrow. I think someone mentioned something about the program wanting to schedule phone calls for new admits tomorrow, which would mean notifications going out today I think.
  19. I think someone mentioned the EdLd's already found out, didn't they? Or I may be going insane. That's a possibility. I just really hope we hear by tomorrow, though I'd much prefer this evening....
  20. Well, If I don't give in I'm going to rationalize it by telling myself you got the slot. You certainly have a far better resume than I sent in for acceptance. Now I won't feel so bad if I'm rejected so there's that
  21. So I stumbled across grad cafe while on reddit and someone mentioned the results survey to figure out (roughly) when notifications go out, specifically because I am waiting on HGSE. Of course, seeing some of the experience you all have leaves me feeling pretty terrified of my chances at acceptance. heh. Any one else apply for the EdM in Higher Ed?
  22. I've been living in Dorchester for the last 3 years or so as an undergrad on about 15k a year. I have needed between 2-3 other room mates depending on the apartment/rent. A lot of the triple deckers in the area at JFK/UMass have 2/3 bedrooms for between 12-1500 dollars a month. Never once felt unsafe, and there's multiple grocery options near by, in addition to the convenience of living 10-15 minute walk from the red line (it's about 10 minutes to Downtown, 20 to get to Harvard), so don't count out Dorchester because of past reputation. I've never felt unsafe walking around alone. As long as you use common sense, you'll absolutely be fine.
