Well that can only result in more IRDF's instead of PDF's. BTW based on the below link we will have no news from NSERC till April http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1138743--federal-budget-will-be-delivered-on-march-29
-
well I hope they increase funding and this leads to more awards
-
any news?
-
I guess they are late based on my expectations, I have postponed accepting a job offer to after March 21th to see how I do in NSERC
-
Why is NSERC never on time when I apply
-
What is your publication record Winter 2012?
-
Called NSERC, they are still not sure when they will mail the letters but it will be near the end of March.
-
Has anyone tried calling NSERC? I think if they are sending letters late this year they should mention this..
-
I remember from last year's forum that people started getting their letters starting March 20.
-
Where do you live? I also got me CGS-D in 2009 very late but that year NSERC was running very late and it was not normal.
-
I would predict Ottawa residents will get their letters in mail on Monday
-
Any news from grad offices?
-
I thought it was always 40K, I just remember it was not taxable a few years ago but now it is (I mean PDF ofcourse)
-
Thanks alot, Good luck to you and everyone else.
-
Cant wait any more, so are they being mailed this week, I live close to Otawwa so I guess I should get it as soon as it is mailed.

Any news?
-
Well these are reports from last year budget, dont think it gives much info regarding this year. I wish they would just post names on their websites and get this over with!!!
-
Well lets just be positive, I am not even sure getting a PDF is the way to go when finding an academic job is getting harder everyday.
-
Well if only we are lucky, I received my CGS-D results April 10 but that was three years ago and NSERC was running really late that year.
-
Silicon, you wont be able to check with any secretary if you are applying for PDF, they will only contact you. But for PGS-D since the application goes through the department first they get the news before you. I got my doctoral scholarship news via mail since our grad office was not willing to disclose information.

I am from McGill

Thats great, Do you have NSERC now? I guess the awards do matter as well. I also think the paper counts are based on the area of research, I am in ECE and all my friends with more than 5 first author journals got PDF last year.
-
Well good luck to everyone lets see how it goes this year, the government is very underfunded and I dont think the number of PDFs will change this year.
-
Peeler, are you referring to their journal count? I do have around 9 first author conference papers as well. How about u? I know a friend in CS that had only one submitted journal and got PDF, I have no idea how their evaluations work. My proposal for CGS-D was mostly related to Bio stuff and I got it but my proposal this year is CS and Math based so I guess I wont get a good score for that.
-
Who is a PDF applicant? Whats your paper count? I have 4 first author and one second author accepted and am completely hopeless based one last year's statistics
