Georgetown MSFS decisions starts
Coloradical replied to grad_cafe_101's topic in Government Affairs Forum
1) Yes of course I'm paranoid and I think it will probably follow that trend, but, 2) I think this week will be the 'rash' of acceptances. SFS is one of the last schools and the hype around it means we'll probably hear when the majority of acceptances go out. I think they wanted to nail down some fantastic picks early, and now they're going to release the bulk of their decisions. Also I just made all of that up. -
I haven't gotten one (yet -- oh god) but I think it's BS. I would venture to say that 95% of their rejection are for one or two of a dozen reasons. They can at least give you a couple lines of stock feedback.

Ugh. e: also, a lot of action yesterday & today: http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=sfs&t=a&o=&p=1 -
Tough luck man. If the wound isn't too fresh, can I ask what time you were notified by e-mail? And will you be attending SIS? If only they'd allow us some insight into the method to their release schedule madness. It seems so random.

1. Why didn't you admit and no I will not leave on my own volition. -

Anyone out there close enough to the apex of neurosis and frustration to call and see if they'll divulge their notification plans for today/this week? -
The weekend is over so let us recommence our frantic fretting. It's 1:30am ET. I assume the release times have once again been randomized?
-
sengpatt I love your optimism! I'm miffed about being wait listed at my number 1 and frustrated at msfs and sipa for taking so long, but positivity like yours is infectious. Congrats on your acceptances and thanks for the much needed dose of sunlight.

SAIS decisions are out, apparently:

Blog posts? Announced algorithms? I'm beginning to envy the SIP adcom of yore.

Any chance of weekend notifications?

If only there was a method to the madness. It seems like decisions can come at any time. Plus the trickle from MSFS makes the whole thing excruciating. It's tough to even pretend to be engaged in anything other than fretting.

Congrats! I'm always amazed to see GWU reject SIPA and SAIS admits...

so it seems like sfs is only rolling out acceptances right now? any evidence for that not being true so far? -

I hope you're right. I thought I saw something disgusting when I searched GC for 2011 A/R. Like 95 spots for 1200 applicants? Doesn't sound right now though... e: yeah it was 2010. I don't know the validity, but this is from http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=sfs&t=a&o=&p=3 No notice on funding yet. 95 applicants admitted out of nearly 1,200. Yay! No word on funding. 1,200 applicants for 95 spots. -
now that sfs is dangling acceptances as well, I'm actually turning into a crazy person

for those accepted: any stats in the letter about number of applicants or size of the accepted class? -

Huge congrats guys!! -
"I know what will really get him: we'll make him wait AND let him think we're deciding how much funding to give him. THEN we'll drop the rejection!"

Also SIPA adcom spies if you're reading this you're doing a fantastic job and while others might disagree I think you should take all the time you need.
-
I flatly refuse to believe that it will be weeks because the blog mentioned "a few days." Anyway, it's been literal months since the deadline, so the idea that they need just a couple more days for further deliberation seems odd.

I find the SIPA hate interesting too. The apparent randomness of the admission decisions reflects the idea that each program values different applicant qualities. I think it makes sense that, in return, applicants value different things in MA programs. In other news, I'm still pissed about being waitlisted at SAIS. I've got a spot at Tufts... anyone looking to swap?
