  1. Yes. SAIC says "Admissions Office." I've been accepted. I also applied to Pratt and MICA which both use it. I've heard back from Pratt (acceptance) and that is listed as "Office of Graduate Admissions." I've not heard back from MICA (yet), but that one says "Office of Admissions." I'm hoping this means good news from MICA.
  2. Now that you mention it, I do see a difference.
  3. From my interviews, being able to eloquently talk about about your work is key. Be personable, calm, and don't expect them to grill you. I wasn't "put on the spot," so to speak. It was a very relaxed interview, almost like a conversation. It wouldn't hurt to do some research if you know who's interviewing you. Turns out I had a bit in common with one of the professors when it came to my study abroad in NZ, strangely enough.
  4. I did a Skype interview, got the scholarship, and was then sent an acceptance email 45 minutes later. With a TA position! I think that might be departmental, though.
  5. I got that email. Followed by my acceptance email. It's weird, I applied for their MFA program, they said they wanted to interview me for their P/MFA program (three year track), but my acceptance email says I was accepted into their two-year program. My mind is full of confusion, but it's nice to have a selection!
  6. I loved MICA when I went to visit. The school, facilities, staff, everything was amazing. Baltimore would be an adjustment- I'm used to big, big cities- but I'd manage. I don't think I'm getting in there, though. I love the prospect of the Interaction Design department at SVA. I wasn't really overwhelmed with my visit, though. They were preparing for their graduate day later that weekend (I couldn't make that day because I was going to RISD that day) and I was just given some student to talk to. While informative, I didn't get a professor's perspective and I felt kind of pushed to the side.
  7. It's looking like that's where I'll be going, but for their MFA program. Perhaps we'll bump into each other next year- if that's where you decide to go. I know you've been anxiously waiting to hear from them for a while now. Have you tried a call yet?
  8. MICA is sitting up at #1 right now, but Pratt was tied with SVA for #2, but it's currently ranking about SVA. I loved Pratt, but the interviews made me like it more. But with MICA, I don't think I could pass up working with Ellen Lupton- she's one of my design idols. Perhaps we'll meet on the Pratt campus next year.
  9. I was accepted into the MFA Graphic Design department at Pratt last Friday. Best email all week. I'm still waiting on a few others, but even if Pratt is my only acceptance, I'm beyond happy. I, too, am waiting on MICA and SVA. Although I applied to SVA's Interaction Design department.
  10. Was your application online? What does your online bit say? Mine (though it is for graphic design) just kinda sits there. It has been like that for days.
  11. On the topic of MICA, does anyone know if all graphic design majors were offered interviews? Their website made it seem like only international students were required to have interviews, but I got no notifications. Is it safe to assume I'm out of the running for that school? Same question applies to SVA for interaction design.
  12. I, too, was nominated for the JKC scholarship, but my school notified me of my nomination 5 days before it was due. I hadn't applied for FAFSA yet (as I was riding through undergrad on another scholarship that didn't require it) and I had no time to fill out my FAFSA and get it ready in time. Basically, I was deprived of the chance to apply because my school failed to time correctly. I don't think that's necessarily true. The MFA program and the MS program are similar in study, but vastly different in practice. I spoke with another applicant who said they were told interviews were not necessary for the MS department. The MFA (I think) has a more limited number of spots and you're meant to develop your thinking and practice, whereas the MS is meant to give you a technical skill set. That's what I've gathered, anyway.
  13. During my first interview with Jeff (the department chair), he said that if they liked me and wanted to know more, I'd be invited for a second interview. My second interview was this past Monday (March 5), wich a different professor and five current MFA students. I thought it was normal protocol based on his description.
  14. While I was reading through my email, searching for VCU info, I got an email from Pratt. I just got accepted... with a scholarship. I AM BEYOND ELATED.
  15. So, I've been creeping around this forum for a bit, but I didn't join until just now. I'm applying to the following schools for an MFA in graphic design. 1. MICA 2. Pratt (2 interviews completed) 2. SVA (Interaction Design) 4. SAIC (1 interview completed) 5. VCU VCU said they'd notify people on the third. Anyone heard back?
