  1. Stanford is my runaway top choice. Which I know is true of a lot people, many of whom are also runaway more interesting and qualified than me. But I found an extreme, personal reason to spend the next 6+ years/the rest of my life in the South Bay/Peninsula, apart from you know, Stanford's wildly awesome program/fit for me. Ugh, I've already shed tears of anxiety! And I'm at work. D:
  2. Oh god. Just lay me in my grave now, I can't take this. D;
  3. That sounds really in line with Minnesota's strengths, from what I garnered. What a great program! Definitely pulling for your acceptance to materialize.
  4. Awww, I'm sorry. I've taken all of my rejections so far with no reaction at all. I have lots of acceptances I'm truly blessed and excited to have, and I'm just waiting on one school (my top choice). But I just know that no matter how much I saw it coming, or how many really fantastic options I have, I'm probably still going to cry if I get rejected. <------ I can reprise my undergrad rejection reaction!
  5. Seriously, right? IT'S LIKE THEY'RE TRYING TO POSITIVELY REINFORCE US AWAY FROM BEING NEUROTIC FREAKS OF NATURE. WHO DOES THAT.
  6. I'd been checking my e-mail rabidly all morning and finally stopped. Came back to an acceptance from Ann Arbor. MY HEART STOPPED. ASkflajflkajfakl;fjk!!! It was a very short e-mail, but it came with all of the personal attachments; PDF letter, funding info, etc. Did I mention askfjal;kjsfkl;j:KLJ!!!!!KJASL:Fkja?
  7. Ahhhh that's so exciting!! Congratulations! :DDD
  8. No, but seriously. I know there's tons of things you need to know as a prospective attendee at a school, but when a program notifies you of your acceptance and then immediately asks you if you have any questions about their program... what do you ask about? What are good things to know? What are bad things to ask? I am TERRIBLE at the phone thing as it is, and I just don't know what the protocol for these things is. Another program e-mailed me, then said they'd call tomorrow so I could ask questions, and I'd really like to not repeat my "well, I'm sure I do have Qs, but I'm stunned and can't think of any right now!" performance. Any tips? What do people usually ask about/what does the prospective need to know? And importantly, what should I NOT be asking... XP I know there's another Decisions forum for this, but I figure the Lit questions probably don't have much bearing on questions you'd ask another department.
  9. I can definitely empathize! Firefox is keeping track of how many times I've refreshed these threads/the results page, and it's already really, really pathetic how high that number is. I should go study for my midterm tomorrow or something, seriously, self.
  10. I couldn't tell you for sure, but I seriously doubt that they're done--I'm with you on the numbers thing. The letter I got said that I'd been nominated for a fellowship; and if I was not selected for that, that I would receive a lesser 1-year non-recurring fellowship in any case. So my guess is they've only notified for Mystery Fellowship so far, and have quite a bit more ground to cover. So hopefully there's a lot more green up on the board soon!
  11. Does anyone know if there's like, a standard procedure for schools making contact with their prospective entering cohorts? I've had several very personal welcomes from POIs (to the extent that they talked about my SOP, my writing sample, AND the people my LORs were from). If this is the school's way of reaching out, consider me reached! (Well, funding is still TBA. Barring that, though, CONSIDER ME REACHED. ) eta: and I mean that in the happiest, glowiest possible way. I realized it might sound like I thought it was creepy instead of welcoming, whoops!
  12. Congrats to all of today's admits! You guys are awesome.
  13. The phone thing is seriously just killing me. I got a call today from an unknown number and IT WAS FROM "DAVE," LOOKING FOR "SHELLEY." Why do you haaaate me phooooneeee! eta: And no, tragically, I am not Shelley.
  14. Seriously? How weird! But the call I got was around 6:30PST, I think. Hm...
  15. I came home to a missed call from a witheld number and am now paranoid that it was a school and that omg, I wrote my e-mail wrong too or something and how will they ever contact meeeeee. Even though: 1) it was probably just my grandmother or something 2) a school would left a message, seriously self, get a grip Is it tomorrow yet? Preferably business hours? Is it?
