  1. amanda1655, where did you teach? I applied to TFA but was rejected first round (I think it was because I listed that I had been arrested. I understand that TFA is very competitive, but I talked to several people that said I'd have no problem at least making it to the interview).
  2. This is the same position I was in when I asked, and I regret asking. They can't do anything about it -- if they haven't made a decision yet, they haven't made a decision. I was hoping that they might have already made a decision but were waiting to announce it.
  3. Where does LBJ sit amongst the other public policy schools? And do they have a good International Development program?
  4. The fellowship is offered by the EU, not by the school, and the deadline is because they have to start running background checks and whatnot. I don't think there's any flexibility there.
  5. I asked and they said they couldn't do anything. I guess I didn't know what I expected, I just feel bad about giving an unconditional "yes" to the fellowship and potentially having to decline it after the deadline
  6. I emailed the director of graduate admissions at Northwestern's journalism school on January 29th to ask when summer applicants (to start in June) could expect to hear; she said all decisions would be posted on March 1st. I've since received a full scholarship at another school -- the catch here is that it's offered by the EU (the school is in Europe) and I have to accept it by February 28th. Well, "have" to accept it is misleading -- if I don't decline it by February 28th, they can't give it to another student. Should I follow up with Northwestern and tell them this? Or should I just stick it out since I've already asked once? I'd feel bad about depriving another student of the scholarship if I end up not going to this school, but I don't want to decline it without hearing from Northwestern first.
  7. My grandma has been lighting candles for me. I just wonder what I'm going to do with the first 1-2 hours of my workday when I don't have grad school forums to ready. Hopefully I'll have Craigslist real estate listings to read.
  8. I'm holding out for some news today. I think admissions committees have a little bit of empathy for the lonely grad school applicant.
  9. Just got an acceptance email from the IMESS program at University College London. It said we'll be hearing about funding by February 8th. Keeping my fingers crossed!
  10. Will having submitted an app almost a month early affect how quickly I hear back from a school? Or do they not start looking at applications until all of them have been submitted?
  11. if you don't mind, where were you rejected from? And how long had your app been submitted?
