Fifteen minutes until the end of the workday here on the east coast and still no news....ugh. Sorry to hear the bad news about the long wait for Turkey and Greece.
I'm still waiting to hear from Bosnia! I freaked out yesterday when I saw so many Balkans people got notifications. I'm having so much trouble being patient right now. It has to be soon, though, right? That's what I keep telling myself.
That makes sense with what she told me about the Bosnia ETA...She said that I should hear in 2-3 weeks on Friday, March 30th...so I'm right in that time frame now. Hopefully a bunch of us Eastern Europe/Balkans/Caucasus people hear this week.
Fingers crossed for everyone!
I emailed Rachel (as a response to the email about the summer workshop/orientation thing) and she said "2-3 weeks" (this was on 3/30, btw). I'm recommended as an ETA to Bosnia, though, so I have no clue if that timeline will hold true for Kosovo and/or Macedonia. But I think Bulgaria's already found out, as well as some others from eastern Europe. At this point, it seems hard to predict.
Sorry! Didn't mean to freak anyone out...I just wanted to check and see if other ETA people had gotten it without having any news/notification of the actual decision. I'm definitely think it doesn't matter and they just wanted us to have the date well in advance in case we get picked.
I figured that it probably just meant that they just set the date and wanted to notify people even though a lot of the final selections haven't gone out yet.
It just freaked me out since so many notifications have gone out this week. I really need to stop expecting news, at least for a week or two.
Did anyone else just get a save the date email for the pre-departure orientation/workshop while still only be a recommended (not accepted, alternate, or rejected) candidate? I saw an email from Rachel Holskin in my inbox and my heart basically stopped. It said that selected candidates would receive an official invitation to the workshop later in the spring. The subject was "Fulbright SAVE THE DATE: Pre-Departure Orientation"
That is helpful info! Part of me wishes I knew how many finalists there are, and part of me just thinks it would drive me crazy. Nothing to do but wait.
Is it that they recommend up to 2x that amount or at least 1.5-2x that amount? I'm applying for Bosnia's ETA and there's only 1 spot this year....but it would seem crazy to only recommend 2 applicants because then they would essentially only be able to choose one person to receive the grant and one to be the alternate...I was just assuming that they sent at least 5 or so. I don't really know, though.
Eeek. Stressing.
First time poster...I was at my parents' house for a few days last week and spent a lot of time sitting on their front porch waiting for the mail to come. I was glad to see here about the email notifications because now I can just compulsively refresh my email instead.
i haven't read that far back in the posts but i saw some other applicants for countries in the Balkans. I was recommended for an ETA to Bosnia, btw.
Good luck to everyone!
