  1. Housing is also my concern. So, I'm hoping more people would respond to this post.
  2. Thanks for your input. All those shortfall were calculated including the cost of living. They're all also the same length. Heller is a good school and offers the program that I'm really interested in, which is why I applied for it in the first place. I'm grateful for the tuition waiver they have offered me,but it's still too expensive for me.
  3. I think I would go with the notebook. However, I think I would use a voice recorder to record the lectures, which I can play back later if I miss something on my notes. English is not my first language and I think the voice recorder is going to help A LOT. I just hope that there's no rules against the use of it in grad school.
  4. How about funding? Would you "follow the money" or still choose the most comfortable city? I've been accepted to AU (SIS) with some credit remissions and to ClarkU with 50% tuition fellowship. At both school I still have to cover the funding shortfall since it's not a full scholarship. At AU, the shortfall is more than Clark, but it's in DC and one of the top school for what I want to study. What do you think?
  5. Having a car would be difficult for me, as I would be an international student living on scarce stipend. So, is the public transportation really that bad?
  6. Yes, please. Can someone give more information on Worcester/ Clark?
  7. Could anyone give more information on the IDSC and/or living in Worcester? I've been accepted to the program, but right now I'm considering between Clark and AU.
  8. Hey Chipembere, That shortfall was the estimate after I get my funding both from Fulbright and the school. If I do end up at AU, looks like we'll be going to the same school
  9. Hi guys, I need some advice on deciding where to go. I would like to study International Development/ Community Development and I've got four admissions: 1. Brandeis University (Heller school). I got partial tuition waiver, but the shortfall that I have to cover for tuition fees and living cost is around $17,000 per year. 2. UPitt (GSPIA). So far, there has been no funding decision but the living cost is cheapest of all schools I got in. However, with the lack of funding I would have to cover the shortfall of $23,000. 3. Clark University (IDSC). They awarded me with 50% tuition waiver, but again this is not a free ride and the shortfall is around $8,000 per year. 4. American U (SIS). Awarded me with some credit remission, so the shortfall for both tuition and stipends amount to around $11,000 per year. The shortfall that I mentioned is all rough calculation and I think I'd be able to slightly reduce that by living frugally. Right now, I'm very interested in SIS for its location and being one of the top schools for international studies. So, any advice emphasizing whether I should or should not go for SIS would be highly appreciated. I'm a Foreign Fulbright Grantee from Indonesia and I have little knowledge on what those schools are actually like. Please give me some more information, anything regarding those schools that would help me decide. Thanks!
  10. And I agree the waiting part is the worst possible part of the whole thing. Best of luck, everyone!
  11. Today I found out that I've been accepted to AU (SIS) and Clark University. There is still shortfall that I have to cover even after AU awards me with 9 credit remission. But it's better than nothing at all. I hope all of you find out soon enough where you will go to. Keep us posted!
  12. I did, but my friend last year heard in late march or early april, I think. I hope you get the news soon, tho'.
  13. I might be accepting. I got partial funding from Fulbright but the rest of the funding hasn't come through. I have to make decision sometime by the second week of April.
  14. I'm from Indonesia. I have been accepted to UPitt and Brandeis. However, I think Fulbright has allocated a certain budget for every student and unfortunately for me, I have shortfalls to cover and it's not cheap. So.. am waiting for funding. desperately.
