  1. After visiting Duke this weekend I have decided that I will definitely be attending Duke's Nicholas School next year. Looking forward to seeing some of you all in Durham next year.
  2. To those who are going to the Duke visit day next week- where are you staying?
  3. @MCRM http://www.nicholas.duke.edu/programs/professional/finances/work-study-and-assistantships " Assistantships Assistantships may be awarded to a select number of professional degree students during their first year of study to assist Nicholas faculty and staff with teaching, research, professional and other projects. It is expected that students will work for eight hours a week on their assigned project for a total of 224 hours. Assistantships require a regular work schedule to be arranged between the student and the faculty or staff member to whom he or she is assigned. During the second year of study, professional students may fulfill the assistantship requirement by working independently on their Master’s Project. Students who receive assistantships are paid by the Nicholas School on the monthly payroll. For the 2010—2011 academic year, the award for eight hours per week of assistance was $2,900. Normally, assistantships are available only for the academic year and require full-time enrollment in the school."
  4. Thank you Greendiplomat and cunninlynguist for your advice. I'm flying out to duke for the visit day, which I think will certainly make this decision process easier. @cunninlynguist I'm coming straight from undergrad with a double major in economics and enviro studies. I'm interested in environmental policy maybe pursuing a jd at some point. @ Greendiplomat what about penn'sreputation as a whole. Ivy league, opportunity to take classes at Wharton etc.
  5. Does anyone have any thoughts on UPENN Masters of Environmental Studies versus Duke MEM (Environmental Economics and Policy track- with $ and an assistantship). Accepted: DUKE MEM ($ and Assistantship), UPENN Masters of Environmental Studies, American University M.A. Global Environmental Policy, Bard M.S. Environmental Policy ($), Indiana University MPA, University of Edinburgh Msc Ecological Economics, GWU Environmental Resource Policy, Waiting: Tulane, BU, Michigan MAE Rejected: Yale FES
