  1. Hi All, So I've been thinking about getting pregnant during graduate school as well. Hopefully I will be starting my PhD program next year, and since my husband's best friend and my best friend (two different people) are pregnant, we would like to follow suit so all our kids can be friends too. The issue is that I will have 2-3 years of coursework to do, and I am nervous about (a) handling pregnancy during an academic year (no coffee?!), and ( having a baby for another 1-2 years of coursework and comps before the research even starts. Can a baby and graduate coursework work? Any good tips? Thanks!
  2. I am also considering an offer from Brandeis. I'm looking at craigslist to understand the market. you can try to do the same if you feel that's appropriate.
  3. Thanks! That seems reassuring. Did you hear back?
  4. I got into at least one MA program, waiting for one more. Both are unfunded (although with some money). Is it ok to apply for a PhD during the first year of the MA? That way if I get in, my second year of the MA and all further studies would (hopefully) be funded. What if I apply to the same school to their PhD program? Thanks!
  5. I think I'd go with NYU as well. Just from the title of the program, it seems like it would fit best with your interest. You may also save money because it is such a short program. good luck!
  6. Yea... My GREs weren't that great either. 84% in both verbal and math and 20% (ouch!!) in the essay. I just hope that my writing sample and personal statement covered for it... man! Waiting to hear from one last school! --- Admitted: MA Brandeis Rejected: PhD UC Berkeley, PhD NYU Waiting: MA Columbia
  7. I just got deferred to the MA program in NEJS. I guess it is a rejection in a way, but it also let me try to cast my net high. I wish every PhD program would do that! Good luck everyone!
