  1. Kbui, I hope my message didn't give you a mini heart attack! It looks like, according to the website, you won't be notified until June. You've got another month to sweat it out. It is worth mentioning that you should start monitoring flight prices now. One of the stipulations of the Gilman is that you must fly with a US airline carrier. For my flight, I am getting quoted a whopping $3500. I was lucky enough to also win a Freeman Asia scholarship (did you apply for that, too?) and I did not see the same requirement in their fine print. I hope I can use that award money to "only" pay $2000 flying with a Chinese airline....
  2. FYI: I just tried logging into my Gilman application and found out I was awarded a summer scholarship!
  3. ...and double posted
  4. I won! I am so excited that I input my info wrong on the spreadsheet... Oops!
  5. Yes, the waiting to hear back from Boren (and, in my case, Gilman and transfer schools) is pretty painful. Hopefully we will find out the first week of May. Also, I can't believe we have so many users on this forum that applied for Korea. Since North Korea seems to be constantly in the headlines, maybe Boren will be quite generous with the amount of awards given for ROK.
  6. Yes, our sample definitely does not seem representitive. Also, such a high percentage of people receiving the budget update worries me that they choose a large number of applicants to be alternates. Even though I should not be getting my hopes up, I would be pretty crushed if I do not win. Anyway, for the sake of adding some balance to the survey, I know three other scholarship applicants (2 for Asia, 1 for ALI) who did not receive the update.
  7. No, I cannot edit my application, only review it. When I log in, however, it takes me directly to a page to enter in my new budget information.
  8. I can review my application on the Boren site when I update my budget.
  9. FYI to those who have not heard from Boren: My school's Boren advisor called the DC headquarters to ask about the budget emails. They told her that "a few" of the scholarship budget emails went out on Friday and that there will be more. So maybe all is not lost for those who haven't gotten the email....
  10. I applied for the summer Gilman scholarship. I do not think my essays were that great (noticed a typo or two AFTER submission), but who knows. My proposed program is very unconventional so I thought my chance of winning was not great anyway. I didn't stress out when applying and just kind of "winged it." Needless to say I won't be sad if/when I get the rejection email.... Good luck to the rest of you lot (especially for the Boren ).
  11. I recieved an email today at 8:17am. I am a Scholarship applicant from California and have applied for South Korea.
  12. Blingem, you are really on top of it. Can I nominate you to create this year's spreadsheet?
  13. Just chiming in to say that I have not received an email either (scholarship applicant). I really hope we hear something soon!
  14. I am also a Boren Scholar applicant for the 2012-2013 academic year. I will be checking this thread to hear if anyone receives a precious budget update email!
