Absolutely not. It's not common for departments to email the results, they're not required to do so, and many are hesitant to do it. Wait for the letter, you're odds haven't changed.

Good luck on getting it this year!! I think the project proposal is really important, last year people with 9-12 published papers said they were rejected, but others without any publications got accepted!

Since I was addicted to this forum last year, I thought I should contribute this year. FYI: Last year the budget was tabled March 29th, and I got my letter in the mail (Montreal) on April 5th. My departement was notified the day before I got the letter. Also, I initially won a PGS-D3, but got a letter informing me it was upgraded to a CDS-D3 on June 11th. My stats were: 1 submitted 1st authored paper 3 published 2nd authored papers 3 refereed 1st authored conference presentations 3 non-refereed (2 1st authored, 1 second authored) conference presentations My GPA for my 2 years of my masters was 4.0 Even is not technically taken into account, my GPA for my last 2 years of undergrad was 3.95 I had never won an NSERC scholarship prior to this (not even a summer student award) This was the first time my application went beyond the university competition I got accepted for the award during my first year of PhD at Mcgill (Biomedical Engineering) I did my Masters degree at the University of Western Ontario (Physics) I did my Undergraduate degree at the Universite de Moncton (Physics)

Exactly! I went through 3 years of not even leaving the university competition before winning one this year! They've cut so many of the awards in the past years, winning a PGS is in itself an incredible achievement, I would say even moreso now compared to 5 years ago, when there were almost twice the amount of PGS-D's to be given!

I think they didn't update it so that people that they are offering the upgrades to CGS or PGS's can have a chance to reject the award (if they decided to not continue studying). They'll probably update it sometime in the summer once everyone has had a chance to respond if needed.

Just got notified that my PGS has been upgraded to CGS, mailed June 1st. Congrats to everyone getting out of the waitlist or who are getting upgrades!

My department has just notified that I've won a PGS-D Scholarship! They didn't specify if it was a D2 or D3 though. I'm at McGill, so I'd suggest other McGillians to contact their departements and not grad studies, like I did. My department told me they were informed yesterday of the results. I had: 1 first author paper submitted (accepted in January). Three second author papers published. 5 First author conference presentations, one second author. Last two years of B.Sc. and M.Sc. grades were high, but the beginning of my B.Sc. was not. I also won a few departmental scholarship (during masters and phd), and had to reject an OGS scholarship last year when I left Ontario for my PhD. This is my first NSERC scholarship of any kind (rejected for USRAs and PGS-Ms).
