Yeah I'm in Montreal, but haven't checked yet.

Has there only been one person who received a letter for PGS/CGS today? If any of you 88 guests lurking this forum have any more information, please sign up and let us know! It only takes a minute!
-
What field are you in?
-
Yeah I have plenty of other scholarships, but NSERC has always evaded me! =)
-
So you have a higher chance of getting a PGS-D if you received a PGS-M in the past? I find that slightly unfair, but alas, I'm not the one giving away money I guess!

Maybe they're tending more towards near future "industrial" application, they've been getting a lot of pressure from the government. I heard that as for research grants, mathematics has been suffering a lot recently due to this change in mentality.

Everybody is naming their numbers of papers published, but reading through this forum, I have a strong feeling that your research proposal has more weight on their decision.
-
Nope.
-
Damn, I miss UWO, they were so organized with informing us of scholarships!
-
Someone else got an email from NSERC this morning saying that the letters have been sent. If they were sent yesterday, Montreal wouldn't have them yet, but Ottawa might!
-
I think a lot of people have already said that McGill never announces the results to student before they get their letter, unlike other schools. . If that's true, then Ottawa students might start getting letters today, and hopefully Montreal still start getting theirs tomorrow!
-
Oh so I haven't heard back from them this year yet, here's hoping!
-
Sorry to hear that, I've never won an NSERC award myself. What university and departement are you from?
-
If anybody does, it'll be Ottawa.

...reload......reload............reload....reload.....

Last year 285 CGS-Ds were awarded, so it's not a significant decrease.
-
Haha congrats! You just made a waitlisted applicant very happy!
-
Yup!
-
Oh wow, if you didn't get it with that background, I have no chance of getting it either!
-
Nope, and we're in the same departement! Good luck! =)
-
I was under the impression that departments/universities receive no information from NSERC about PDF results, unlike PGS/CGS. But I might be wrong.
-
J'pense pas que les departements recoivent de l'information sur les PDF.
-
Since they said the individuals will be notified, I imagine that means by mail. Let's hope Montreal gets their letters by next Tuesday!
-
Obviously. I think it would be quite an odd thing if a US PhD graduate would be awarded a scholarship by the Canadian government to do research in a non-Canadian university.

Please report anyways. Your tale of the mailman's journey yesterday was a lot more exciting than the papers I'm supposed to be reading
