  1. Thanks! My guess is those whose departements inform them of the decision will know by Thursday, and the rest of us will get the snail mail next week.
  2. Thanks for letting us know. Maybe they're only sending them out today then.
  3. There are 70 guests lurking this forum. If one of you got your letter and doesn't make an account to let us know.....
  4. Mmmm Schwartz.... Also Romado's portugese chicken is nearby....
  5. Maybe they are, but they don't have 2000 operators to answer all of our calls at the same time
  6. Well, see ya'll tomorrow then.
  7. The suspense is killing me.
  8. The calm before the storm...
  9. Anywhom, no need for drama, we'll all find out soon enough. Have some of you heard back from your Uni applications? When are your deadlines to answer them?
  10. That rule is for you and your application, nowhere does it say that they should adhere by that rule as well. That's your (erroneous/arrogant) assumption.
  11. This year can't be compared with last year, because this year it was clear that there were going to be HUGE cuts in the budget, more than last year, and the PMO were very tightlipped on which agencies were going to lose a lot this year. I also understand that the scholarships are not free money. I was using that word sarcastically to make a point that people are whining that they're going to find out one or two days later than what they should have expected (send date March 31st is probably no possible, it will probably be Monday April 2nd). Everybody really need to chill out, drink a beer and eat nachos on a patio or something.
  12. You're right, I honestly don't think they should have ever given a specific date (i.e. March 31st), because it makes them people harass them more than needed. Like other organisations, they should have given a range (you will be notified between March 15 and April 15), to be more flexible with things out of their control (i.e. delayed budget that they have no control at all on).
  13. People who have called and emailed them for the last month have always been told that they will mail the letters late March/Early April. I think they've been pretty clear on that. I understand that the late announcement is troublesome for everyone who have a deadline answering your university offers, but that's a fact of this situation that everyone is living with, and is common every year.
  14. I understand that, but the budget announcement has severe implications on the number of awards they can hand out. Mutual obligation or not, the delayed budget meant delayed announcement; if you want to contact the Prime Ministers Office with your concerns that their late budget announcement has made you lose hope on the NSERCs ability to process your application in a timely manner, by all means do so. Maybe next year they'll make sure that they announce the budget earlier so that you can find out if you're receiving your free scholarship money earlier.
  15. No, they don't need to notify us by tomorrow, they only need to mail the notification. It says on their website that they do not announce by email or phone, so you're wasting your (and their) time by doing so. Also, it's not some sort of date written in stone where they get fined if they don't adhere to it, they set their own deadline.
  16. I honestly doubt that they would indirectly announce to all the award winners this way.
  17. They're only announcing the budget at 4PM ET, so they'll probably only find out tomorrow. That's good to know, one less thing to stress about!
  18. I think what they meant is that they're investments in researchers isn't transitioning into new businesses and products as fast as they expected their investments would. I don't think they understand how basic science works
  19. Here comes the budget... http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2012/03/28/pol-budget-elements-to-watch.html
  20. Here is the paper with most co-authors (over 2900!!!!): http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v412/n6846/extref/412565aa.html
  21. Maybe someone from inside NSERC slipped him the info, or something else special happened (winner of a top award? upgraded from a PGS that he had already won to a CGS?). Also, I doubt any person high up the organisation deals with their Twitter account, it might just be a low level employee who is none the wiser.
  22. No problem. I'm as stressed and eager as all of you to find my letter in the mail, but I think I'll force myself to calm down until next Monday.
  23. This guy is just here to stress us all out, he only has 3 posts that contradict each other multiple ways. As of now, I'm quite certain that no one has actually received their PGS letters, they'll probably only start sending them out tomorrow or Friday, as NSERC has said multiple times to people who have called them.
  24. ^ I actually don't think anyone in this forum received either PGS or CGS letters, only PDF and rejection emails from their department. I think the only CGS was the guy quoted on twitter, so we may all be getting ahead of ourselves here.
  25. I don't know any more than you do, eliasg.
