  1. Just FYI, the website says Masters applicants will be notified by the 14th and PhD applicants by the 17th...so we might hear by Friday but probably not until Monday. Only one more week of waiting (for this one at least)!!
  2. Yeah, I see that they updated their website today to March 17 http://www.sais-jhu.edu/graduate-studies/admissions-and-aid/important-dates
  3. I haven't heard anything. The website says March 1st but alas we are still waiting! Good luck to you
  4. So excited right now!!! I just got an email to notify me that I am being offered a Boren Fellowship - upgraded from alternate They want to confirm that my plans for language study are appropriate but I do not think this will be an issue. It seems that all of my hard work has paid off after all! Good luck to all of the other alternates!
  5. I'm curious to know if any alternates have heard back....?
  6. Last year's forum has two posts on May 28th from alternates saying they ended up getting a Boren...I'm definitely still checking in here for updates...
  7. Nope...I did send an email to request feedback, as I would like to know at some point what I can improve for next year. They responded that they are very busy now (understandably) and that I can contact them in July to discuss my application if I do not get called up before then.
  8. I was a fellowship applicant and am a master's student. I guess I'm hoping I am near the top of the alternate pile and that a bunch of people decline their awards because they were offered another amazing opportunity. Boren is really the best option for my interests...but I guess I'll have to look into other sources of funding at this point. Sigh.
  9. I got a notification that I am an alternate. Has anyone heard of alternates actually being accepted later on?
  10. I am glad there are others agonizing about this as much as me! stokedchicken - based on advice I got from a professor that used to be on a Boren selection committee, the exact combination of components you have in your proposal is not the most important thing (other than needing to have significant language study of course). She said it's more about whether what you are proposing makes sense as a whole package, particularly in the context of your educational and career plans. Also what you are planning needs to be feasible given the amount of time you propose and you should explain how this is true. I am really hoping her advice was enough to help me get a fellowship! We will know soon enough!! Good luck to everyone!! I am anxious to hear all of the results!
  11. Has anyone else been getting additional emails? I just got the one asking about budget/schedule updates...
  12. I got the budget email at the same time (9:17 AM PST). I am a fellowship applicant and applied to study Khmer/Cambodian in Cambodia. My budget was pretty detailed...I have been once before for a few weeks and have an NGO partner, both of which helped in the budgeting process. Good luck everyone!
