I got a mail from NSERC, the results will be ready on April 2nd, through Researchnet.

when did you got the mail? What did you apply? Where are you?

I have contacted few people, they told me that the Banting courier will only notify applicants by post.

little chance, I think. They have already ranked all applicants. (perhaps not all, the number they think it is possible) What they should do is just to decide the number of applicants and then send all people final decisions by email or mail.

Finally, today will be the last day for my banting application. If still no news, then game is over. I will wait until 4.30 pm, eastern time.

The federal granting agencies will notify successful applicants of the competition results by March 30, 2012 it seems not from Research Net.

i am going mad, when can i have the banting pdf results? They only saying the results will be released by March 30, 2012 and, will only email to those winners.

cannot agree more, one article on Science is enough, much better than 10 articles with low impact factors.

ok, the group should have quite a lot people. Otherwise, it is still difficult to raise the number. We have only four people in our group and the professor seldom write articles due to the retirement.

canot say they have the highest impact factor, they are still in top ranking. we had a highly ranked journal, the peer review takes about only 27 days, but this journal asks for publication fee and submission fee. The rejection rate is also very high, which is above 73%.

Thanks for your question. Sometimes it is true that it takes 5 months to 1 year to publish an article. I even had some of them published after 1.5 years. But there are still some fast journals, which takes 3 to 4 months. Now I only submit my articles to those journals with a fast peer review period. Also, one needs luck in publishing an article: if the article was sent to two reviewers with strong opinions, then it is over. I still remember I had very hard time during my first two years of my PhD life: I usually worked 15 hours per day to perform experiments.

yes, you are correct! Publication is only one criteria. I had no repetition in my conference proceedings. The quality of proposal is very important. For banting pdf, the research leadership and the synergy between applicant and university is important as well. The most important thing is whether the reviewers like you or not.

no news yet. Of all 37 publications, i had 14 journal articles published. 3 to 4 journal articles have been submitted (not included in these 37), 2 books and about 21 conference proceedings. Regarding the leadership, i am reviewer for several journals and editorial board of two journals. external reviewer for a funding body. I have applied the Marie Curie pdf (the most prestigious one in europe) and got it, but i still prefer in canada.
