  1. Yes.....experiments and research.
  2. Either way, Friday is a holiday so I'd be shocked if we see something before mid next week. Does the post get the Monday off too? I feel like government will double up.
  3. Thanks. Either way it looks like next week is when we know.
  4. Until their grad office has the results in hand, I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
  5. Brutallllllllll!
  6. I'd agree with that. I don't expect an email from them. They aren't the best organized school and the idea of sending out 80 emails to the winners and indicating whether they are CGS or PGS seems mind-boggling for them . Still, will be nice to know if they have released the results. One would presume that once released online, they are in the mail or extremely close to being so
  7. Haha. That's hilarious. All that trouble to post the results on a restricted website and they can't put it online for students. Tax dollars at work! . Keep us posted on if your office gets the results.
  8. Very strange. Do you mean your graduate office or personal department? Grad office should know first. Secured website makes it the simplest and fastest. How'd you get this information so quickly?
  9. The reason NSERC is not answering is because they are working! Thousands of applicants, 50-100 Canadian schools and the budget was released Thrusday afternoon. I would tell my staff to ignore the phones until the letters have been sent if I were a boss. Perhaps it is time to contact S. Harper or Elizabeth II? I check this forum for updates on the NSERC but everyday there are 5 new pages of people complaining about time and saying they are calling/emailing NSERC. Chill out, be patient, and wait. You will know ASAP. Stop bogging them down and over-posting this forum!
  10. If they have offended your delicate nature, feel free to decline your award . Someone will gladly take it for you!
  11. I'd be thankful that you are in the running to receive a lot of tax free money while being a student. We knew that the budget was late this year and they were waiting for it; it came out yesterday afternoon. The turn around will not be in 1 day.
  12. Why are you guys calling? NSERC won't give results over the phone and they are likely printing all the letters today so they can mail them on Monday. They'll be busy! Emailing will take time as well, a couple thousand students spread out over 50 universities. They'll need a few days.
  13. PDF will likely go up. Someone posted something earlier today indicating that PDFs were low because they over-stretched in 2010. CGS/PGS will likely be the same.
  14. School or corporate? This makes more sense for corporations than publicly funded organizations.
  15. Not sure. Either that, or people just come on here to start a fire. Anyways, I'll wait until next week, I trust her comment.
  16. Hi Guys, I wanted to put everyone to ease a bit. In December, I was contacted by NSERC for more information about an award I am currently holding. Anyways, my supervisor asked me today to email her back and see if it affected my role in the competition (because the results are late this year). She replied with this: "Hi XXXXXX, No, this did not affect your application. The reason the results are later this year is that the Federal Budget is later this year. In fact, the budget comes out tomorrow, so it shouldn't be too much longer until you receive your results. Best regards, XXXXXXX" This follows what has been said multiple times, but figured it wouldn't hurt to add it to the pile.
  17. He also won a CGS D3 NSERC for award years of 2011-2014. This would be 2012-2015.
  18. Agreed. That is after the budget and before March 31st. This is also a government, last minute is kind of their specialty
  19. In my experience with Montreal, the only way to guarantee a letters arrival is to get it in hand. Mailing them Friday or Monday and expecting them to land by Tuesday is ambitious It's only March 27th, the PDFs are just rolling in for Montreal, and my department hasn't heard of the results yet. I'll keep waiting. Edit: In 2010 when I received my CGS-M, the department notified me on March 25th of the result, and the letter came a couple of days later.
  20. That's fair. But take a look at last years McGill stats. 50% of the NSERC quota received funding. I wouldn't lose sleep over this because you could be stressing out to get a No. I hope not, but that's the reality. Have a beer and keep yourself busy.
  21. Agreed. In Montreal as well and nothing yet. They said March 31 and outside of a select few, the majority are still waiting. Patience! It will come.
