  1. Hi skchetu, I applied to Biochemistry/Structural Biology programs, but none of the programs you applied to. I applied to Columbia, Rockefeller, Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, WashU, UCSD, and Caltech.
  2. Does anyone know of any other good grad school forums out there?
  3. From the Harvard study posted above: "Based on our analyses, the quantitative GRE score is a better predictor of grades in graduate school than the other two scores, regardless of the field of study within the Government Department. This is not because mathematics is essential to a graduate education at Harvard, but, because mathematics questions are by their nature less ambiguous, it appears to be a better test. Moreover, quantitative, verbal, and analytical skills correlate very highly, and so a high score on a math test, even for an aspiring political philosopher, often predicts success in his or her field."
  4. Hello everyone, Glad to see people are finally starting to post here. I took a huge gamble and only applied to the top universities in Biochemistry/Biophysics/Structural Biology, but luckily it is paying off. Applied: Caltech, Columbia, Harvard, MIT, Rockefeller, Stanford, UCSD, UCSF, WashU and Yale Rejected: MIT Interviews: Columbia, Harvard, and Yale Accepted: Rockefeller Did anyone else apply to any of these schools?
  5. Are you sure offers of admission are made to 5x the amount of students they want to matriculate? For example, Rockefeller University gets around 600 applications every year and have around 30 students enroll every year. That means 1 in 4 applicants are accepted...it just doesn't seem like that could be right.
