  1. Anyone applying as an international applicant FROM Bangladesh? I emailed the American Center (regarding deadlines, etc.) and there were no replies...
  2. Are you applying abroad, or within India? If abroad - there are many programs in Canadian universities - try for UBC and Guelph. I am applying to these programs too
  3. Are there any grad programs (related to biological sciences) at Guelph University where you secure advisors/P.I.s AFTER admission? Or does this apply to all grad programs in biology the other way round (I have to manage a P.I., then apply if they have space/funding)? Thanks...
  4. Schweet! Thanks for the info. My test is on Nov 8th so I guess I'm not that late...
  5. But after how many days do the schools receive the scores? Is it the same (10 - 15 day thing)? I am registered for a November exam but I was told its a bit late and some schools recommend that I sit for the exam during October (and I couldn't because I was not ready)... Wondering if it's too late...
  6. Anyone applying to CIHR Bioinformatics training program for September 2013? I'm planning to do so and want to study at UBC... Thanks. http://bioinformatics.bcgsc.ca/howtoapply/index.html
  7. As far as I know their deadlines are mostly around late Nov - early Dec. Depends on the school.
  8. I experienced the same. Even when the deadline was extended to 16th - I had everything ready EXCEPT for the transcript which wouldn't upload. Then I emailed the web admins. And they asked me to try again. I was done submitting 4 minutes before the deadline. Very stressful!
  9. I am as unsure as you about what to write for "Justification...", but I added important points about why my proposed research would be fit for natural sciences & engineering - something along that line...
  10. surefire: I'm looking to gain entrance for Fall 2013, which means I have time to gather my transcripts, etc. and then start applying. I already have a Masters degree in Biotechnology, but I'm interested to apply for M.Sc. in anything related to biological sciences, so that after a year I hope to start PhD. At the moment I'm working in a microbiology lab and have two publications. The reason why I started off emailing to profs was because I was advised by someone that applying to a program is "of no use" unless I have a prof/supervisor with space and funding (some online applications will ask me to indicate the name of the prof I contacted earlier). I received 4 replies and they were mostly about "no space to accomodate", and "no funding". Prof. Susan: I think I might have to "polish" my approach towards prospective supervisors before I email them and talk about my interests, or be clear about how I'm interested to work with their current project... Thanks for the replies. I need time to browse forums and see if I can gain more info...
  11. (To Admins: If something similar has already been posted please let me know and/or delete this thread) I am about to apply to grad schools in Canada, but not sure how to begin. I initially started two weeks ago by writing to profs directly (the ones that matched my research interests) but most of them said "no" due to shortage of funds/space. One of the profs (Guelph) I wrote to, forwarded my email to the grad school administrator, and replied that I apply online soon. What does this mean? Am I supposed to apply to programs first, then write to the profs? I need help... Thanks.
  12. I used to boil the noodles, stir-fried them with garlic-chilli oil, and then added left-over chicken, eggs, veggies... A bit of soya sauce - done...
  13. Thanks a lot... I will also try to see if I can find more info from their websites.
  14. RANDOM QUESTION: Is there anyone here who will be attending grad school as a single parent (any university)? Or someone who is attending/has attended? Please get in touch with me...
  15. Thank you very much. That was helpful. But how early should I apply? Especially since you mentioned about long waitlists? I will be applying to U of T, McMaster, McGill, Lakehead U., and UBC (till now this is what I decided based on the programs). Do I apply for the subsidy after I get accepted? I don't know anything about subsidies... My son will be turning 3 on May this year, which means next year he will be four... Play based curriculums should be fine...
  16. I am not sure if anything like this has been posted before in this forum but I searched and couldn't find anything... I just finished my Masters in Biotechnology a year ago and hope to apply for PhD this year. My tentative session is fall next year. I have a 2.5 year old toddler, and he will be moving out with me next year depending on where I get accepted. I will be applying to universities in Canada - I was wondering what the child care facilities are like for grad students with kids...?
