  1. Hi guys, I am an International student and have been admitted to Texas A&M and UC Irvine both with no funding. I can support my self for the first semester/quarter. I would ask you since Texas is a much cheaper state and also I like living in CA more, is it possible to defer UC Irvine and hope to find a professor while attending TX A&M? thank you
  2. Hi, I have applied for the EE PhD program in Notre Dame and I found this on their website: WAITING LIST Could you give me more information about the waiting list? What shall I do to increase the possibility for admission? Where am I ranked? After the admits have determined to accept or decline our offer (April 15 for fall is the deadline and it takes awhile to receive final results), if there are any spots open we turn to those on the waiting list. Those on that list are unranked. If you have been placed on the waiting list the chances of coming off that list areunlikely. In the case of an offer, you will be notified immediately so it will not be necessary to contact the office. All disapproved applicants will be sent a hardcopy letter by mid-May from the Graduate school if the application fee was paid. There is nothing that can be done at this point if your application is complete to increase the possibility for admission.
  3. Hey guys, still waiting for funding in all three programs thanks for the vote
  4. I have been to Lausanne, EPFL, nice place but small. cost of living is toooooo much there! I do not recommend without funding. having a good adviser is crucial in grad study. I do not know very much about TAMU but I would go with funding.
  5. Hi, I am an International EE student, I studied MS & BS in the best engineering school in my country with good records, but my English scores are not great! So I have admissions from TX A&M, Irvine, Columbia(Master) and U of Florida with no funding I emailed the faculties but didn't heard back or I have been told that there are no spots. I can afford my living expenses but I want to know if it is possible to have tuition waived? and what I have to tell them to make that happen? Thank you guys
  6. Hi, I applied to the EE PhD program at columbia. I contacted one of the professors there and after he told me that there would be no PhD position, I insisted to be considered as a MS student, This is his response: "I very strongly advise against attending our program as an MS student if you are interested in a Ph.D. at our institution; the probability of transfer from the MS to the Ph.D. track is very low, and you are very likely to be disappointed if that is your goal. There are not that many Ph.D. slots, and our MS program is a professional degree, and not intended to be a recruiting pool for the Ph.D. program. The MS program is not research oriented (and quite expensive), so it really only makes sense for students that are planning to work immediately afterwards." I hope it helps
