so then we wouldn't really expect them to post it tomorrow morning, except that maybe we could do the login trick tomorrow at some point... i feel like i play this mental calculation game every day lately... hmm ....
-
acceptance. but also some amount of "i wish they would just post this, but i know when they do i'm going to have to find a real hobby that doesn't include reloading this message board"
-
i keep distracting myself, hoping that the nsf will magically have posted results. but i guess today is not the day. i might actually have to do my classwork (*gasp*, i know) ...
-
and entirely wrong. i was a female at mit it was (and still is) an a-ok place. people have preconceived notions about certain places. sorry, i got nothin' else to add.
-
the same uttered from a girl's lips usually causes recoiling and/or horror. at least from what i've heard.

it's amazing the things you can find when you're dissecting the nsf webpage for updates. if you log in and go to https://www.fastlane-beta.nsf.gov/grfp/ ... StatusPage you should find a typo. first one who finds it gets an electronic cookie.
-
i agree - that would be amazing

i just wanted to point out that even if college is free somewhere else, college entrance exams in a lot of other countries bar a large population of students in other countries from ever attending college, let alone grad school...
-
yeah, you think you're hilarious. i've been saying that bit about the nsf since 2005. so hush.
-
oh .. good point. well, that must explain why it's taking so long, then. that's somewhat complicated.
-
i actually do love the nsf and how they have that thing at the end of public tv that says that the show is brought to the station "by the national science foundation... and, by viewers like you." <3 anyway, the money needs to be used by 2010. so that's either this cycle or next. let's assume they're halving it to use 1/2 this year. theoretically. that still leaves 1.5 billion dollars to go to grants (not just the grfp, but including it)... which is a lot of new nsf winners. and ... don't worry, it'll still be prestigious even if it awards more this year.
-
because this is driving me crazy, i am promising to myself that i will not check the nsf website until after 9 am tomorrow (technically later today). heh...
-
yes, i am in a phd program. i am guaranteed funding for 2 years. but, the labs i want to work in for my thesis do not have funding. so, i'd have to apply for an NRSA or something if i don't get funded.
-
yes, i just checked mine. nothing here either ...
-
for anyone who's still keeping track, it seems that the fastlane site is finally down..
-
also, and i know this isn't a new thing, why aren't 2008 applicants up anymore?
-
the log in page is just a front-end to the the ratings sheet viewing which has been down, yeah, since those people got to see their apps. you can access the login page from google cache also but it doesn't let you access the ratings sheets.
-
hilariously, the webpage still works.

Yea so btw I think it's totally legit that plisar doesn't post the results. That would be kinda wrong you guys. Obvs (s)he was basically doing us a favor by mentioning that the results are starting to be released. So, usually when websites go down (def. correct me if i'm wrong) it's for software updates/fixing stuff with the server/etc. Last year the results were posted at like 9 am on a Friday and there was no website update beforehand. but ... if people are starting to find out, that means we should, soon, too.

i don't find this as useful after the fact :(
-
and how did you get it, if you don't mind me asking? (ie was it emailed or something?)
