  1. No, not at all! I've always told myself that if I end up teaching high school english, I will be totally fine!
  2. LOVE THIS. my mom ordered me a dozen cupcakes to ease the stress....needless to say, they're gone!
  3. hey everyone! hope everyone is hanging in there! does anyone know if footnotes and/or endnotes count in page lengths? I have some pretty chunky footnotes and am wondering if the space they will take up will count in my page limit. haven't found any specific guidelines on this. thanks!!
  4. blah it's details like THESE that are going to drive us crazy for the next few weeks! and I'm still fighting with my WS and SOP. how are people managing what feels like constant, chronic stress?
  5. on this topic, are there any MA programs similar to Georgetown's or Villanova's that people recommend? Those both look unique and great...and seem to offer really supportive environments!
  6. wow, congrats guys! still fighting with my northwestern SOP to try to get it down to 400-500 words (WHAT?!)
  7. what schools have such early deadlines? mildly freaking out that I'm late, haha!
  8. hey everyone! I need some good, solid "pleasure reading" books for this month to balance out all of the work for grad school apps...recently, I've really been enjoying Eugenides, Patchett, etc... hope everyone can make their app process as cozy and holiday-y as possible!!
  9. Oh me neither. I must have left at least 50 blank. That 2 hours and 50 minutes went by SO quickly
  10. This is SO ME as well! Some days, after meeting with really encouraging professors, I'm like "YAY I totally want to be a literary scholar," and then other days, I'll be working on my WS and not be able to string two sentences together! Also, a totally random, unrelated question: Are people putting their language strengths in their SOP? Where do those show up? I have taken a French lit class and can speak French well, but I don't want to just arbitrarily stick it somewhere in my SOP...
  11. I also love Columbia's statement about the Lit GRE...it's something like, "We do not feel the GRE is an adequate representation of your abilities as a literary scholar" or something...I read that whenever I am feeling downtrodden about this darn test!
