Hey all, I would just like to say a wholehearted thank you for the comfort and support this dang thread has given me over the past several weeks, and let you know that I have received a SSHRC CGS from Memorial University in Newfoundland. I can actually afford to stay in school! Congrats to those who have received similar news, condolences to those who did not, and keep up those chins to those still waiting!

HA HA HA!! I agree. Since they keep making me check their damn web page every hour just in case they have posted a new excel spreadsheet, yeah, until I know one way or the other, SSHRC reviewers be damned!! Ack! Did I just type that?? SSHRC gods! Please, I didn't mean it!!! Noooooooooo...

Am I wrong in thinking that there is a form you can download online to accept your SSHRC? Here you go: http://sshrc.ca/site/using-utiliser/gui ... s-eng.aspx You fill in forms 1.1 AND 1.2. I believe that's what you need to accept money and go. Double check with your school that they have your bank info, and that things are fine on their end, and the money should just be dropped into your account when your payments start.

Wow, you're school officers are jerks...

PAYMENT most definitely depends on school. At Memorial University in NL they add your school top up in to the SSHRC monies, and split the whole thing into 26 even bi-weekly payments. We get paid on the regular university pay schedule. Apparently they used to just give out the award, many years ago, but I think there is a combination of the students not being responsible with their cash (and then being in dire straights for the rest of the year), and the schools banking the lump sum to earn interest. Would be nice to earn the interest on my own money, but hey, as long as I get some I'll be smiling!! And I say we will hear by Tuesday for doctoral. I pessimistically feel that it will be later, but Tuesday feels right as they will give us that last heart attack on Monday and then hopefully end it.

I'm also confused about the Canada Post thing. In this day and age of environmental consciousness, you'd think they would WANT to save the paper! We had our secure and passworded application area, just plug it in there! I received my "Thank you we received your application" notification by email. And I agree...if one were to contact SSHRC today, what date would they give us? Hmmm...anyone up to the experiment?

Wow, this is so bad, and so tiring. I have definitely not hinged my WHOLE life on money that may or may not be awarded to me, but I made plans for a summer exchange program that I THOUGHT I would have time to accept or not, based on money coming in... Now, we start classes May 11th, with fees due, and they're saying that we may not even have a CLUE until that week? Holy crap, my fellow grads, this is heartrending! I wonder what IS going on there...I mean, late is one thing, but this is really ridiculous. Perhaps they're trying to raise the cash to give us ALL money? Hey, hey? You think? *weeps quietly into comps notes*

We had a situation last year where those who had won awards were told, but those who hadn't were left to wait and wonder. It was only when someone in the dept. was being congratulated on winning that those who hadn't found out...not cool. It really does depend on your dept./grad studies office. The grads who won even found out before their supervisors who had helped them with applications!!

Let's face it, "mid-next week" is just a buzz phrase! I bet no matter when anyone asks the answer will be "mid-next week!" Of course it would be foolish to PLAN for money that may or may not be awarded to you, but I feel sorry for those who are hoping to know for May payout options, and who really need to decide if they're taking that summer job or not! All we can hope now is that many of our departments/grad offices may get some sort of confirmation list generated beforehand, and might hopefully share the results! I have NO fingernails left at all!
