I'm also not aware of any status update for Oxford applications and I've been made to believe they don't have one and we rather have to rely on emails/postage.
Eve if decisions are made, there's a procedure that makes it take so long I imagine. I'm sure we'll hear soon enough. Their guidelines say expect notification in March.
I did but I haven't heard a thing. If you were included with the January pile we should be hearing sometime this month. I do believe the department finished making their decisions already though.
Unless you have any personal or specific reason for wanting to do the exact program that you applied to then I'd say you should shift the application. For one, it seems that you are more certain about getting a funded offer that way. Also, from your description it seems that the programs basically differ in name only. I'd say go for it!

It's not bad. I do find that the above quoted area could be reconsidered a bit. You seem to be describing the method, which is a bit redundant given the audience (professors who will be well verse in the method I assume) You can be a bit more personal and provide greater context as to what made you interested in it.
