  1. I'm looking to do a health psych (or health psych-related) PhD, and I'm interested in a program that has a heavy statistical analysis and technology emphasis in its research. Anyone have any suggestions about programs and/or mentors?
  2. Hi there, I am planning to apply to the URI behavioral science program this Fall. Did you end up going?
  3. I also have a question of my own. For someone interested in research on schizophrenia, can anyone recommend any schools to look at? I think UNC-Chapel Hill looks like a great fit, but I'd like to look at other options as well naturally. I'm particularly interested in psychosocial interventions as treatments, such as CBT. I'm also interested in mood disorders, and studying how to reduce stigma toward individuals with severe mental illness. If anyone has any pointers on labs to apply to, I'd be most grateful. Staying in the U.S. is definitely not necessary.
  4. i think if you look into what programs are fitting places to research the questions you're interested in, you'll figure out whether clinical or counseling is for you. i'm interested in psychosocial treatments of schizophrenia, which happens to be the sort of thing researched by faculty associated with clinical programs but not counseling programs. i'm therefore planning to apply to clinical programs. i believe counseling programs tend to explicitly emphasize community interventions, have a self-proclaimed eye for ecological validity, and tend to have a stake in promoting social justice. these features tend not to be had (to as great an extent) by clinical programs. this is just my understanding--if something's off here, i'm sorry!
