  1. Either that or SILP. I am excited for either, but MLS makes my move extremely complicated - I'm moving to Monterey from abroad.
  2. Awards are decided mid-February and results are mailed out by the start of March.
  3. I'm applying to MIIS (MAIEM/MPA), SIT (Intl. Ed.), NYU (Steinhardt Intl. Ed.), and AU (ITEP). Actually, I'm already in with a conditional offer at MIIS. My interests are primarily in international exchange and particularly connecting international exchange with service learning and volunteerism - particularly in Latin America or Eastern Europe. Hence the different selection of programs. So while my interests differ quite a bit, there is still a chance we can end up in the same place. I've considered TC and know it is an excellent program (one of my friends is there now - in ICE). I just wasn't quite sure it was my thing.
  4. Yes, I was aware of this and feel that it looks interesting, but worry it could be too theoretical. Still something I'd consider.
  5. A career change. I'm currently in a job that I am pretty unhappy with and am just completing the masters to meet my contractual obligations as a part of the job I currently hold. I currently have a 2 year teaching contract contingent on progress on my graduate program. I see little benefit in breaking contract especially as I have nowhere to go for the next year due to personal reasons. My master's is in a field totally unrelated (Elementary Ed) and from a university that has no reputation outside the region I'm in. I don't see how that can get me into this field, one that I already have a year related experience in as a student plus additional international education experience before I returned back to the US when higher ed institutions want a related masters.
  6. I am very interested in entering a professional graduate program for international ed in 2017 (after I finish my current masters and gain additional international experience). I know about programs like the MAIEM/MPA at MIIS and MA in International Ed at SIT that are both very professional based and something I would love, but I recently learned that some higher ed admin/student affairs programs could be a good fit when I heard that someone was doing an international education focus in a college student personnel MA program. The issue is, outside of the one student affairs program here where this is possible but challenging, and a few others that do not have a focus on international ed, are there any that I am missing? I'm familiar with the NAFSA list, but I'm wondering if there are any more programs out there that could be a good fit.
  7. Update: Turns out it is just S and U grades. Not even narrative evaluations for graduate students. How will this affect me later on?
  8. So, while I know this is common with quite a number of undergraduate institutions, my graduate school appears to only give narrative evaluations. If I want to go on to another degree, such as a PhD, how will this affect my admissions? Does this get treated just like an undergraduate applying to a PhD from one of those schools or somehow else? The catalog specifically states you will only be evaluated if you actually pass at what is considered graduate level else your transcript will just state fail. Does that suffice for programs that look at graduate GPA?
  9. Congrats to everyone who will be my neighbor in Germany (well actually, I am closer to Poland) as well as everyone else who got in today. I just got my affiliation today and this process still seems very unreal to me. I'm off to a nice small town near the Polish border exactly 1/3 the size of my hometown in the US (which is already kind of small, but in a large urban area). Definitely going to be a change of pace, but I am very excited. To all those who are still waiting, good luck and if you were not so lucky, try try again. I applied for a Boren a few years back (I know something different, but still) and was rejected. So, it is possible to make it!
  10. It said it would come from FFSB, but ended up coming from IIE.
  11. Mine came from IIE, so maybe it depends on the country.
  12. Offered a Czech Republic ETA grant.
  13. What is a multiple country ETA? As a candidate for the Czech Republic (alone), I am confused as I thought ETA apps were for just one country and you were only allowed one app.
