  1. Congratulations on Emerson! I'm in love with their program and am dying to hear back from them soon. In the case of Temple, I had to call them three times to make sure they had all of my documents to update my application status on the TU portal in early February. I played phone tag with Dawn Dandridge until it was noted complete. I recommend calling and emailing her to confirm that Temple's received everything for your application. Some schools are just less organized than others...
  2. I just heard from Marquette too! I emailed back about funding and was told we would be emailed within the next few days if we have gotten anything!
  3. It worked! I just got accepted to Temple!
  4. I am going nuts. I swore that NYU and/or Marquette would email me or send something in the mail today. I just need to pretend I'm not waiting for something in order to be sane again...
  5. I most definitely wear scrubs to bed every night.. And I'm not ashamed!
  6. I have this gut feeling we'll be hearing acceptances from Marquette tomorrow and Emerson by the end of the week. I'm getting extremely anxious...
  7. I'm really confused as to why only one person posted an acceptance to Marquette... Aaahgjdjaha..
  8. I have a feeling Marquette will be notifying acceptances via mail again... Keeping my eyes open! And I'm telling my parents to check the mail back home in case they send it to my permanent address. :-/
  9. I'm pretty sure Northwestern won't contact us with decisions until the end of March.
  10. Here is the link to the 2013 SLP Admissions thread: I know some people are having a hard time finding it. I'm not sure why it's not searchable...
  11. I contacted Emerson, UT Austin, Marquette, and NYU and they all said they will probably send out their decisions during the first week of March. One more week guys! The end is in sight!
  12. A Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is not required unless you want to practice with your Cs (Certificate of Clinical Competence). If you decide to complete your PhD and do research for the rest of your life--you will never need to complete your Cs. If you want to practice--it depends what state you are in. Some states don't require Cs for state licensure, but others do. Basically, ASHA will acknowledge you as a practicing clinician only if you have your Cs. Sorry, that's a rant. But no, you do not have to complete your Cs right away--to answer your question.
  13. I think Rush sent out invites to complete a supplemental application on February 8th and the deadline to complete them was February 18th. Did anyone else just get a financial aid email and have a split second freak out?
  14. Oh boy, I forgot that today is technically a federal holiday...
  15. I know in the clinic at my school, student clinicians are highly encouraged to wear dresses, blouses, slacks, boots, heels, sweaters, cardigans, etc. We're not allowed to wear jeans, leggings, or sweatshirt material. I'm somebody who wears sweatpants and t-shirts to class, so I'm going to have to revamp my wardrobe this summer.
  16. It concerns me that the SLP threads seem dead compared to last year at this time. Are all the schools going to mail out their admissions out on the same day?! Imagine how crazy that would be... Clearly, I'm getting impatient. Eeek.
  17. I am an undergrad at Northwestern and I haven't heard anything about a possible open house this year. I'm not sure how effective it was last year. I heard through the grapevine that there are roughly 370 applicants to the SLL program this year. I'm not sure if that's the total number or if they've narrowed it down in any way.
  18. I'm not sure if this is a far-fetched idea, but I think there's a trend with schools sending out their notifications on Fridays and Mondays. Let's hope I'm right and that tomorrow brings good news to us all! Good luck everyone!
  19. While I think GRE scores and GPAs are important for a baseline of an applicant, I believe schools also take a good look at the experience and the overall quality of the applicant. It seems like you have done some volunteering and have more than just classroom experience in the field, and that'll definitely help your application stand out. Good luck! I'm wishing the best for you! As for me, I am in-field applicant with a GPA of 3.76, a GRE total of 313, and Analytical Writing score of 5.5.
  20. Congratulations! That's great news! Are you a Texas resident, by chance? Did any out-of-state applicants hear from UT Austin yet?
  21. Clearly you're not excited about your current career choice and would like to become an SLP. This field is full of out-of-field applicants, so you're not far off. I think if you chose to apply to SLP programs, your work with PT will help you more than hurt you, especially if you are honest about why you didn't want to become a PT and why you want to become an SLP. I'm not sure what the next step is, but follow your heart. You don't want to regret your decision for the rest of your life.
  22. I recommend browsing through the financial aid section on the website of each school you applied to. Most schools only require the FAFSA, but many also require a few other documents, so it's best to check the requirements and procedures.
  23. According to the results page, there is some activity of Emerson notifying applicants. Did anybody receive a decision from them?
  24. Just got notified from Rush! Did anybody else get invited to complete their supplemental application?
  25. Congratulations! That's great news! It's nice when programs let their undergraduates apply early or do a 5-year program--I wish mine did that! It would definitely ease the stress of applying out... Just out of curiosity, what makes you want to leave Emerson? Do you mind giving a little insight into their program and faculty?
