  1. Rush University Medical Center Declining: Emerson, Illinois State, Marquette (15K), NYU, Northeastern, Northwestern (30K), Pittsburgh, Temple and UT Austin Turning down those scholarships was a VERY DIFFICULT decision. I hope they go to somebody who really needs them! Good luck!
  2. I know there's little representation from Rush University on this website--but here's the Class of 2015 FB group in case you're headed there in the fall and want to connect with other students! https://www.facebook.com/groups/566832446682176

  4. Is anyone definitely attending Rush next fall? I'm still so torn but this is incredibly high on my list. Also, did anyone hear about funding?
  5. I hate that we don't know funding until we accept. That just puts a damper on the acceptance. :/ I wish graduate programs understood how much funding means to us and how much it impacts our decision to choose them!
  6. I'm not sure what you mean by competitive--because it's a program where students work together, not against each other. I don't think the CSD curriculum at Northwestern is hard at all, and I've taken around 8 graduate-level courses. I actually think the program tends to "dumb-down" certain concepts for the graduate level students, especially for those who have no science background. If you work hard and put effort into each course, you will likely get a B+ or higher in all of your courses. The science classes (anatomy, voice, dysphagia) are known to be hard classes--but if you study, A's are possible. As an undergraduate student, I was super involved in extra curricular activities and definitely put school on the back burner at times. Even then, I still averaged a 3.9 in my CSD coursework. I have no doubt that if I put 100% of my time into school I could've gotten a 4.0. I think that's possible for anyone if they put their mind to it. I hope this helps!
  7. They shouldn't have said "week of" March 18th.
  8. I received a $30K offer as well. While I loved my undergrad here--I'm not sure I want to stay... This is tempting though.
  9. I'm going to defer my acceptance to NYU. I hope that helps one of you get off the waitlist.
  10. Did anyone else get that financial aid email and freak out? Urgh.
  11. I am dying to hear back from UT Austin. I want to fly out there next week during my spring break, but I don't want to book the flight until I get in...and flights are gradually getting super expensive. Bah! I wish all schools had to get back to you by March 15th so that you have solid month to make a decision. I'm getting really nervous about where to go, especially since I'm still waiting on two schools to get back to me.
  12. Not yet. Impatiently waiting to hear though--since it's high on my list!
  13. I'm almost sure it'll be next week. But what do I know...
  14. Where did you hear that a decision needs to be made by 3/29? I didn't get an email or anything in the mail yet!
  15. I'm dealing with the same problem. I know it's easy to just tell somebody to go somewhere new--but sometimes being comfortable is all part of the experience! I know several people that moved to a different city and were not comfortable with their social situation and were lonely--and that affects their overall experience. Really balance out how open you are to meeting new people, learning in a new environment, and being on your own, etc. It's a difficult decision. I'm trying to decide if I want to stay in Chicago/Milwaukee or if I want to move out to Boston. Yikes!
  16. I know what you mean! I'm still waiting to hear back from several schools and one of the schools I got in to need me to defer or put a deposit down by tomorrow! I understand that they want to take people off the waiting list but it's so early in the game that I have no idea what I want to do yet! On another note, I wish financial packages were given out with acceptances. It would make the decision process much easier knowing exactly how much it will cost to attend each school. I know that financial aid is a big factor for many of us--I wish the schools would just realize that too!
  17. I checked the application portal where I submitted my app and there was a decision link at the bottom. I'm not sure if they've notified everyone yet--but it's worth a look!
  18. I will not be attending Temple. I hope this helps somebody on the waitlist!
  19. Has anyone visited the NYU program? I've heard mixed reviews from several people... What is the program like? How are the faculty? I'd love to hear about your experience(s)!
  20. I'm in the same boat and completely torn. I'm still waiting to hear about funding from multiple programs and praying that one of my top choice schools gives me a financial cushion. Blah!
  21. I'm getting really nervous about UT Austin. Is anyone familiar with the program? I've heard it's amazing and Austin is a thriving city. I'd love some insight if you've visited or attended as a student!
  22. Who got into Rush? Are you going to accept? Have you heard about funding yet?
  23. Good luck to all of you who haven't heard yet! It's going to happen when you least expect it. These next few weeks will be nerve-wracking, but will be worth the wait! I promise!
