  1. Hello, So I am new to filing taxes independently. So for this 2013/2014 school year I'm on a 18k graduate fellowship and received 9k for the Fall 2013 semester. Since this is not "wages" my school did not issue me a W-2 or 1099. How do I go about filling my fellowship stipend, which I know is taxable. My father insists that the school needs to provide me with some sort of documentation, and I plan on calling the office tomorrow, however the more I google the more I see how complicated filing fellowships can be and I don't wan't to screw this up. I assume I'll have to file federal and state (Indiana) as I was given my stipend in a lump sum with no amount withheld for tax purposes. Any tips? Or does anyone know of any resources?
  2. I mean this was last year's application thread. I'm on a MA/PhD track at Indiana if anyone has any questions.
  3. I just moved in last weekend. Lots to explore, but haven't met anyone yet!
  4. I took 3 and 1/2 years and decided to graduate early.
  5. I'll be enrolling at IU this fall for a PhD in Slavic Language and Literature. I just signed a lease for a studio apartment downtown. That was easiest for me as I have a cat and finding a cat friendly place and roommate was just double the challenge. When I was looking for apartments my main requirements were close to campus, cat friendly, not full of undergrads, and not by the stadium.
  6. Did anyone else apply to Michigan? I haven't heard from them yet. Its strange as they called me in January sounding positive and nothing
  7. ^ Congrats! I loved Kansas when I visited. Just got accepted to UWisconsin - Madison yet I have to turn then down.
  8. Congrats! I've made my decision and will be in Bloomington as its a great department and I received a fellowship!
  9. ^ If you visit Bloomington I'd love to know about your experience. I'm not able to vist. Still waiting on four more schools.
  10. Accepted to Kansas Time to start comparing offers
  11. Just got accepted into Washington's MA program!
  12. I'm not sure yet but I have until April 15th to accept my offer.
  13. It's nerve-racking waiting to hear results. I still haven't heard from anymore schools, but I did receive my funding offer from my acceptance; it was very generous. Congrats on whoever got into Harvard.
  14. just had my interview! I think it went okay. I was so nervous.
  15. ^ would that be Kansas? I got the interview as well
