  1. I am in the same boat!! I applied to so many grad schools...I'm afraid I'll hear about that and Fulbright on the same day. JK BECAUSE WE ARE NEVER GOING TO HEAR ABOUT FULBRIGHT.
  2. This is seriously torture. I would like to go to the offices in New York and tell them all that they can have $1,000,000 which they will receive anytime between February-July BUT THEY WON'T KNOW THE DATE OR TIME HAHA
  3. This isn't really a fellowship, but last summer I spent three months in Uganda as a journalism fellow for a non profit and I've been offered the role of fellowship director this summer for the new program in Peru! Only problem is in an americorps member and those two months would be during my service so I don't know what to do..
  4. My ever-so-helpful advisor -____- says: One Fulbrightee said she had had an email that said the 31st of January. I have heard nothing, nothing, nothing, my dear, nothing.
  5. Don't worry, at this point everyone is doubting themselves and their chances. This extra long waiting game...it is torture for the mind and nerves.
  6. Oh GOD, I forgot about that!! BAHAHA. And here we are again, year two, doing it all over again...
  7. Does anyone have a really good relationship with/very loose lipped FPA...?
  8. How has your Peace Corps experience been! I applied to do a Masters International at UNLV if this doesn't pan out.
  9. So what's the consensus? Do we think we are hearing tomorrow??
  10. Ugh, it really makes me mad that they didn't follow the pattern they've used EVERY OTHER YEAR and are making us wait for literally no reason because the decision has FOR SURE been made. It's such a rude thing to do.
  11. ET time, yes! I believe the offices are in the Eastern time zone.
  12. MOTHER OF GOD. Last year: 4:46. 3 hours as 50 minutes to go, right...
  13. THATS RIGHT, the only thing that will miss us is our Netflix subscriptions!!
  14. I don't think I believe that...last year my FPA told me that I wouldn't hear until the last week as well, and we heard on the 18th. I think that's just their line more than anything.

  16. We got it last year at 4:46 pm Eastern (I'm not that crazy, I just looked in my saved messages!)
  17. I think the worst part is just knowing that the decision has probably already been made. I'm still betting on January 17 for notification since last year we heard on that same Friday, the 18, and the year before that they also heard on that third Friday. Fingers crossed!
  18. Last year we all found out on January 18, a Friday, so I'm betting January 17 this year.
  19. At first I was being really calm and zen about the waiting process, second year in a row for me. NOW I JUST WANT TO KNOW RIGHT NOW AND CANNOT BE ZEN. WHAT IS ZEN.
  20. What is your all's opinion on grad school deferment if offered a Fulbright? I've applied to about 11 grad schools as a back up plan, and i can't find their policies on deferment. Have you found that the vast majority will make a deferment exception for a Fulbright? It seems like something they'd like to have to add to their repertoire--a Fulbright scholar! I'm applying for MFA creative writing programs as my back up, but I really love some of the schools.
  21. Yay!! Another Full Research applicant to Canada!! What are you looking to do??
  22. Has anyone else seen on the Fulbright website that it gives the exact date of notification: January 31??? I know last year we were told on Jan. 18, and that the exact date has never been given before. Do you think it's notification BY January 31 or that is THE day??
  23. Hey y'all! My name is Kelsey and I graduated from college in May with a BA in English. I applied for a Full Grant last year to Denmark and was cut on the first round which really killed me. I learned from my mistakes though and am (hopefully) a much stronger applicant. I applied for a Full Grant to Canada to study medical sociology at McGill University. While doing that, I will also be shadowing a neurosurgeon who focuses on heredity and it's link to brain aneurysms. My study will be focused on aneurysms and heredity and my plan is to begin my own non profit linking survivors from both countries upon my return to the US. My fingers are crossed for everyone here!! This is our year.
