Well, I have heard people say that York overall is disorganized, not just its Social Work department. This doesn't faze me too much though, as I am a survivor of Laurier's administration as a Graduate student. Getting into Laurier was no problem - the department (Psychology) was super organized. The pitfalls started to happen once I was already in the University.

Getting paycheques all wrong; missing deadlines; losing important documents and lying about it to me - (I had to fight with admin to prove I had sent my cheque in for graduation and they had misplaced it, all the while arguing that I had never sent it). Plus, I went from U of Waterloo which had great tech services and internet, to Laurier where things were behind a few years in all fronts. Anyway, the point is: all Universities are just big businesses and therefore, tend to have shoddy administrative parts just like any corporation you run into *cough cough* Bell or Rogers lol.

So if you haven't run into any difficulties yet, still tread with caution and always back up your documents, proof of payments, and receipts (and emails) because the ease of getting in (i.e., paper work and timely process) is only one aspect Just protect yourself in the shuffle so to speak.

I sound bitter lol...but now that it's my second time around, the innocence of first-time-grad student has worn off and it's all business to me this time. I know what they're capable of, what I should rightly expect of them, and what my and their responsibilities are. Am I tad worried that it's this late...yes...but I'm also armed with assertiveness to go forward into the year lol.

Chins up everyone and soldier on!

I certainly have alot of anxiety around accepting a program from York. However, personally, York is my last outstanding application as I did not make it in to U of T or York's MSW program, and I dread having my referees go through the reference process again, which is why I am still waiting for York.

Well after 4 years of going to York I cant say Im suprised at the errors that have gone on with admissions, whether it is calculating averages, referees not showing up on Myfile, or a failure to meet the deadlines promised to students. For all of you have been accepted to York and are attending the university for the first time, unfortunatly, you had better get used to this! I have known a lot of people who have attended other schools (U of T, Waterloo, etc) who ended up at York and frankly, most of them are completely baffled by lack of organization, communication and common sense when it comes to administrative matters at this school.

As someone else suggested, I too would like to storm the school and demand some answers, or atleast ask if there is anything WE can or should do to help things along. If we are waitlisted... why doesnt it say so on our myfile. Geez, they should atleast tell us our position on the list (a common university practice) when we call asking WTF is going on.

Hey Guys. I know there's a lot of debate on here about how many people are accepted into each program. I went to info sessions for all the 2-year programs in Ontario.

I know that UofT gets about 600-700 applications for about 125 spots. That means less than 20% of applicants will go to the program. I know last year they put 75 more on the waitlist. I was one of them last year. I am not sure how many people get in off the waitlist, but there were a few into May and June.

Wilfrid Laurier accepts 90 out of 400-500 applicants. Again, that's pretty close to 20%. They have a small waitlist as well but I do not believe it exceeds 20 or 25. I was rejected today from Laurier. Good luck to anyone who was accepted

I know less about York, Windsor, and Carleton because I never planned on going to any of them. I believe they each accept a class of about 25. I am pretty sure they each typically have between 125 and 250 applicants, but again, not entirely sure.

In any case, regardless of the school you applied to, just about 80% of applicants are ultimately rejected and/or reject an offer. So, for those accepted, congratulations on such a wonderful feat. For those who find another fate, keep your chin up. You can always reapply and with such a high rejection rate, it is the program, not you.
