  1. Hey all, Just looking for some helpful advice as I'm considering a field change. Background- My undergrad is in history and economics, and I did an MA in History. Feeling a little burnt out after grad school, I am currently working a corporate job in data management. I'm thinking about going back to school, doing a master's in education. I'm really interested in educational policy- probably with a heavy focus on research. Question- do you think my background would draw weird looks if I applied to an education program? How likely do you think it would be to gain admission to a competitive program? (if it helps, undergrad gpa was 3.4 at a fairly good public school, grad gpa of 3.9 at the same school, gre scores in the 95-ish percentile) Side note- If anyone has suggestions for some introductory reading in educational policy, I'd love that too!
  2. I know Miami (Oh) funds all admitted MA students, University of Cincinnati does most (if not all) as well. You can also look at schools in the MAC conference- I believe many of them fund a good number of students, although here you're getting into lesser-known schools so it depends what you want to do with your MA. I think OU funds too (although I'm much less certain about this one). I'm obviously from Ohio, so those are the schools I know best- I'm betting there are ones elsewhere too.
  3. I guess it varies a lot by region- in the midwest, there are a decent number of MA programs that are funded.
  4. Are you set on starting this fall at one of the schools you already applied at? If so, I have no idea if it's possible or how to look for outside funding. Otherwise, I know of several schools around where I'm from that do funded MA's (including the program I'm finishing now- which funds all MA students)- feel free to PM me for specific info. Probably the best route is to look at free-standing MA programs, so you're not competing for resources with PhD students.
  5. Temple hasn't sent out official word to any one yet (as far as I know), so I believe all info posted here comes from informal emails from the DGS. And he was very friendly in response to the email I sent him, so I would say go for it.
  6. CarrieLe5 and vtstevie, did your unofficial emails have funding info included? I'm waiting on Temple info myself!
  7. Mine still says it's under "Final Review"....it looks like in the past all their notifications were sent out at the same time, not in batches like some schools. But who knows.
