Yeah, I'm fairly confident that one day emails will just appear before we hear anything else. Do you think we'll hear...dare I say it...this week? I have no idea when, but I'm going to go ahead and guess 200-400 additional awards.

The good news is that anyone in limbo who is not already in their second year (unlike my very very unlucky self) stands a very very good chance of receiving an award next year!

Can we please move on? I don't want to read this stuff on this forum. All I want is to commiserate endlessly with my fellow limbo-ers and someday hear back from the NSF.

I believe it was last Tuesday, April 14. Not like I compulsively refresh every NSF-related webpage or anything...

The stipend is just for personal and educational expenses. The GRFP does not give money explicitly for research, but you can apply for the NSF DDIG for that! There is a one time $1000 international travel fund associated with the GRFP, but you have to do research abroad for a few months to use it and it would MAYBE cover your airfare. Hope that helps!

Ok that's it. We're never going to hear. I would just try and forget about it for awhile, but it's hard when my adviser asks me EVERY DAY if I've heard any news. I quit.

That's what a couple people were told when they called immediately after the first list was posted.

I just looked at the three DDIG offers that have been posted so far this year. Two of them are up near $15,000, which is a definite increase in funding. Last year, the max awards given were at $12,000. Let's hope the free flowing money trickles down to us!

I have it too, it doesn't mean anything (sadly). Long, long ago, somewhere around page 30, someone else brought this up. Even people who got rejections had that in their html version.

I got an honorable mention last year and the email was completely different for me than for anyone who was rejected. I think it's three very separate categories. Sorry :cry: .
