TsarandProphet Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Dear colleagues, I am looking for graduate programs that allow specialisation in the sociology of knowledge and expertise, preferably along with historical and comparative sociology. I know it's rare, but I'm sure they exist!
MintChocoChip Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 The closest I've seen are schools that offer specialization in science studies. It has knowledge in it but specific to science, technology, and medicine. I was also trying to look for schools because my interests also involved sociology of knowledge. You can try University of California San Diego. They have comparative historical and sociology of science, technology, and medicine. Hopefully someone else can provide more schools.
Ladril Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 This si not a topic I know a lot about, but UPenn has a program that might suit you: https://hss.sas.upenn.edu/
souplover Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 UC San Diego might be a good fit for you. Northwestern, Columbia, and Rutgers could also be a fit.
infovore Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I have similar interests, and I would second the recommendations from others here, I applied to UCSD, UPenn HSS, and Northwestern.
libernaut Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 My interests lie primarily in soc of knowledge (headed to Northwestern) and I would add UChicago (they also have their Knowledge Lab research center) to the previously mentioned. If you have interests at the intersection of knowledge/science and race/ethnicity, there are also great faculty at NYU, Columbia, and Penn, among others.
