Waitlisted

I’ve been waitlisted at my top choice PhD program, which is also one of the most highly ranked programs in the field. Apparently I’m still a relatively highly ranked candidate. Should I be hopeful? Does anyone have some stories to share regarding graduate school waitlists? Thanks

Grad school waitlists are frustrating and hard. Because of the combination of program/mentor fit, it can be a super jenga-puzzle to figure out on their end. 

I wouldn't give up hope yet. It's still early -- tons of schools are still interviewing, and there's a chance that the person your POI extended the offer to could drop. 

Keep your head up, keep working, and keep moving forward. You've got this.

That is a tough spot to be in, and trust me I would know because I am in that position right now. On the bright side, I was accepted in to one of the schools I was waitlisted at, while I am still waiting to hear back from the other. I hope it works out for the best. Did you reach out to that school?
