DeepWhaleSlumber Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I’ve been waitlisted at my top choice PhD program, which is also one of the most highly ranked programs in the field. Apparently I’m still a relatively highly ranked candidate. Should I be hopeful? Does anyone have some stories to share regarding graduate school waitlists? Thanks
butwhyisallthecoffeegone Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Grad school waitlists are frustrating and hard. Because of the combination of program/mentor fit, it can be a super jenga-puzzle to figure out on their end. I wouldn't give up hope yet. It's still early -- tons of schools are still interviewing, and there's a chance that the person your POI extended the offer to could drop. Keep your head up, keep working, and keep moving forward. You've got this.

Thanks That is a tough spot to be in, and trust me I would know because I am in that position right now. On the bright side, I was accepted in to one of the schools I was waitlisted at, while I am still waiting to hear back from the other. I hope it works out for the best. Did you reach out to that school?
