I withdrew my McGill application today: they still hadn't received a LOR from my most absent-minded professor and since it was never a top choice and I have a few offers already, I decided to call it quits rather than chase him down and force his hand.

So I guess at last all the dust has settled for my application season, apart from awaiting some more funding info from Alberta, McMaster and UBC.

Cancel that. They replied and offered me admission anyway. So the dust has finally settled and I was accepted everywhere. Now I just have to make a freakin' decision.

Ha! That is awesome! Congrats. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone withdrawing their application only to be accepted anyway.

Thanks. It seems a bit odd to me but they claimed not to want to lose me to another school without having a chance to make an offer. So apparently it's like dating and once you lose interest, they're all over you.

So how are you going to decide?

So how are you going to decide?

I've been stressing:

- funding level

- conversations with mentors

- connection with potential advisor (I know that they all share interests with me and want to work with me but I'm delving a bit more deeply into how we click as human beings)

- interviews with current students

- comparing the PhD/T-T destinations of students over the last five years

- comparing the relative benefits of each programme and what level/style of work I could put out in each environment

- on a superficial level, I've also been comparing how well the department has been treating me overall (Do they call? Do they reply in a timely fashion to my questions? Do I feel jerked around at all?). That's not really going to make my decision, but it gives out bonus points to certain departments.)

I think I've all but made my decision but overall there are still three departments that I'm continuing to seriously consider.

Accepted to Notre Dame's MA in Early Christian Studies! This is by far my top choice, and I accepted within 5 minutes of receiving the email.

Success! I'm so glad for you! I guess I'll be seeing you in August.

Congrats to all that have received acceptances from these great schools. :)

I am thinking of applying for the fall of 2012.

I am seeking some advice as to whether or not I am qualified for some of the schools mentioned.

I am interested in the MDIV program at Harvard in particular.

I have a B.A. in English from a state school with a 2.9 GPA.

I have an M.A. in Theology from the University of San Francisco with a G.P.A of 3.8.

For the last six years I have taught religious studies at a Catholic High School in the bay area. The last two years

I have been the department chair.

I am particularly interested in the Buddhist Studies and Philosophy of Religion concentrations although am not fully sure.

I have not taken the GRE's and plan to this summer.

I am a bit nervous about taking a step out of my comfort zone.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Has anyone heard from Duke about MTS financial aid?

Yeah I got the financial aid package last week about this time, and it was the abysmal offer I expected. A grant of only a few thousand dollars and the rest loans. I honestly don't know who would accept their standard offer, I applied knowing I was basically aiming for one of their full Petry full ride scholarships.
