  1. I emailed a couple of folks, but still have not heard anything.

    ThD vs. PhD

At harvard, a report was released last year that recommended getting rid of the ThD. It's an old degree, and I think there are different sources of funding, though.
  3. Anyone heard anything about BU's PhD program?
  4. I think the graduate housing is further from HDS than some of the Somerville housing. I hear it's nice though.
  5. It seems like most people do their master's first. Though one of my professors here at HDS said they do take people straight from undergrad if it seems like they will go straight to PhD work otherwise. I don't imagine you'd have trouble getting into a master's program.

    Waiting on HDS!

Lemme know if anyone is looking for a sublet in Cambridge. Ideally from May 1st.
  7. At the CSWR? The two bedrooms units are shared, of course. I'm not sure how they assign roommates, but it sounds like they didn't know each other before they moved in.
  8. I like Davis Square, but it's at least a 30 minute walk to school--maybe more. I'm thinking about moving out that way because I like the vibe. I live in Cambridge right now, almost in Somerville. Somerville is kind of the cheaper location to live in. You could live in Union Square or Inman and still be pretty close. Last year we had to go with a an agent, because we weren't from the city. This year I hope to have better luck on my own. Oh and if you get a place for Sept 1st, there's a decent chance you won't get it until the 1st and school starts before then.
  9. You can live quite comfortably for 1000 a month. Though I think a lot of the Harvard housing might be more expensive? The CSWR is nice, but pricy. If you live there you'll be right across the street from the school! I pay about 550 a month, but I live with 5 people. Our place is pretty nice and close to school though.
  10. BU and HDS are pretty far apart by Boston standards. I lived in Brookline near BU for a couple of weeks, it's like a 20 minute bus ride between the two. I do recommend living with grad cafe people. I live with folks I met here
  11. (We know each other in real life)
  12. Sorry-- it's from an email. I'm a student at HDS.
  13. "Leigh Schmidt, Charles Warren Professor of the History of Religion in America, and Marie Griffith, the John A. Bartlett Professor, have decided to take new opportunities at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri"
  14. Leigh Schmidt is leaving HDS next year, as an fyi.
  15. For what it's worth, I think that this is a bit of an exaggeration. It depends what you mean by "actual theology"; HDS does push the envelope in terms of theoretical approaches, but I don't think that means there is no theology happening,
  16. Last year the HDS results came out on the 12th. I was expecting them for the 15th, which was a Monday. They came out late Friday afternoon instead.
  17. I got accepted to the HDS MTS program with a very low quant score. I think it matters more at the PhD level.
  18. Yeah all classes are canceled at HDS. Though it doesn't seem so bad out.
  19. The delay last year at HDS was because of the new GRE requirements. It was the first year it was required at HDS and I guess some people were confused. I was cranky because I submitted for the first deadline.
