xabiere Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I have a question about Columbia application. My status of application is still saying "Incomplete". What does it mean? Does it mean that mine is still in process of reviewing or that I missed some requirements for completing application?

Does it mean that mine is still in process of reviewing or that I missed some requirements for completing application? It means that some of the components of the application have still not been submitted. You might want to go through their check-list to see if you've sent in all the needed material...
xabiere Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Did you check the form to see if all the required materials are in? I submitted all required materials -Transcripts, Test scores, SOP, Writing Sample, CV-. However, my status is "Incomplete". How can I accept that? No reply from GSAS for now when I e-mailed.
interista Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 There was a discussion about the Columbia status problem on the Fall 2010 Admissions Results thread. Quite a few people also had their status listed as "incomplete" from what I recall; it's just a glitch in the system, and it doesn't seem to imply that your application was not received and considered. So I wouldn't worry about it too much, though unfortunately if you haven't heard from Columbia yet you're likely rejected.

Similar experience, part of my application was misplaced and my application was not forwarded before the end of January. In the end my file was only "complete enough" with parts missing that were in the same envelope as the parts that they did receive. The admissions office does not make it a secret that they rather not have you pestering them checking your materials, but then again, unlike some other schools, they will not alert you if there is something "missing" from your file either. I guess these things can and do happen, the question is whether our cases are incidents or GSAS has more structural problems. Either way, it does bug me a little, seeing that Columbia was one of my top choices. I would hope that my application had at least gotten full consideration.
yangus2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 My application was only updated as "complete" and "at department" at the end of February. I emailed a woman at GSAS admissions and she forwarded my email to the department. I have yet to hear back from the department. At this point, I know I didn't get in (just because I didn't hear when everyone who got in heard), but I just want to know when my application was processed. If it wasn't processed until the end of February, I want a refund of my application fee. Really??? So many people havenot heard the result from Columbia. I shocked about it. Extremely sad to be rejected silienctly. At least, they should inform us in stead of ignoring us. A bit furious about that! They treat as like what, bubble???
