Hey all,

Hope everyone is taking the time to breathe even as March approaches.

I applied to the Yale FES PhD program and received an email from the Department in late January kindly letting me know that they would not be accepting me (no surprise as I graduate undergrad May 2018) and encouraging me to apply to one of their masters programs. I applied to the mesc program, and was wondering if anyone else had this experience?

They said admission was not guaranteed and that matriculation into the Masters program would not guarantee later admission to their PhD program however to take the letter as "strong encouragement". Has anyone received a similar offer/know just how "strong" this encouragement is in my chances of getting into the MESC or MEM program?
