Florida State University Vs. University of Alabama Tuscaloosa for Physics PhD

Got funded offer from both universities. The Stipend amount is better for Alabama while Florida is a better-ranked school. Any insight will be of tremendous help. Thanks in advance.

Is there any particular reason why you wouldn't choose the higher ranked school? How's the research fit at each place?

UA=University of Alabama

FSU= Florida State University

1. The stipend amount is far better for UA.

2. The semester fee (though I have received full tuition waiver) is higher at FSU.

3. The living cost & the weather is almost same in AL & FL.

4. can't comment on research: that's the suggestion i am looking for....

You didn't answer my two questions. Why are you interested in UA? Is it just the money? Have you talked to potential advisors at each institution? Does your planned research fit well with what folks in either department are doing?
