An international development organization, in response to a vitamin A deficiency among people in the impoverished nation of Tagus, has engineered a new breed of millet high in vitamin A. While seeds for this new type of millet cost more, farmers will be paid subsidies for farming the new variety of millet. Since millet is already a staple food in Tagus, people will readily adopt the new variety. To combat vitamin A deficiency, the government of Tagus should do everything it can to promote this new type of millet

Although it is commendable that the international organization developed an engineered breed of seed to help the people of Tagus, further information needs to be provided to understand its efficacy in helping to nourish the people of the country.

There has been no indication of any alternative way that has been explored in which the problem could have been redressed. Without this information, there could be a question as to whether using genetically modified seeds is the best way to help the people of Tagus.
There are no studies which has been shown of the use of the engineered seeds to show its efficacy to treat the malnourished people of Tagus. Also, even though the engineered seeds are described as high in Vitamin A, no details has been provided about its other contents. This can lead to the question as to whether the seeds are actually helpful at all, or may be detrimental to the people of Tagus in another way.
Since there is also no clear indications of the actual cost of the new seeds, or of the subsidies provided to them by the government, it cannot be clearly said as to whether the farmers will readily adopt the modified seeds.
There could also be a scenario in which people are averse to consume food containing genetically modified millets, and providing further damage to the country.
If these questions are addressed, the efficacy of the newly developed seeds in helping the people of Tagus can be more clearly understood.
