Has anyone ever emailed program directors after turning in your application expressing interest in a program? If so, what are some things you included in the email,  Or does it seem pointless and why do you think so? Please note if you feel like it was beneficial during your application process. I'm just desperate about getting into a SLP grad program and willing to do anything to increase my chances.

I think if you were wait listed absolutely e-mail them reaffirming your interest! If this isn't after a wait list, I wouldn't. Expressing interest in a program is a great part to include in your SOP, but after you already turn in your application I would not e-mail them those points. One thing you could do (if this is at all possible) is to find a faculty member that matches your interests and possibly meeting with them during a visit to the program.

Best of luck to you!

I agree with Felice, only email them if you either are waitlisted, or maybe if you haven't heard a response at all. I emailed my top choice, where I'm waitlisted saying I'm still very interested in the program, and that if I'm accepted off the waitlist I will 100% attend. With the April 15th deadline coming up it can't hurt to email if you're waitlisted to keep your name fresh in their minds. I totally understand the desperation, just make sure it doesn't come out in your email.

E-mail them if you have interviewed or if you have been waitlisted.. they are inundated with e-mails especially during this time
