punctiliousdog Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 (edited) Hello, just a quick question, sorry to bother all of you, I'm a senior undergrad student, I'm wondering if I can use a similar template in two different paragraphs, the template was created by myself, using my own words. i'm not talking about re-using my work in two essays for two different courses I mean re-using my work within one essay, these two paragraphs within the same essay look extremely similar to each other, because I literally just used my own words as a template in two areas of my paper just talking about two slightly different scenarios in my paper Thank you grad students!! TakeruK Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Based on your other threads, I am guessing that you are asking whether you will get in some sort of academic integrity trouble if you do this. If so, then my answer is that no, you will not. However, this is a bad idea because it is lazy writing. If I was grading your work and noticed that you are just repeating yourself like you described, it would be poor writing and your grade will reflect that.
BeezKnees Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 ^ seconding what he said above. If you have to repeat something twice word for word, you probably didnt explain it well enough to begin with.
PsyDuck90 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 I agree with the other posters. Also, OP, it may be a good idea for you to check out your school's writing center. They can assist you to improve your understanding the finer nuances of citations and essay structure. They can also provide you with much better writing advice, as they can physically see the paper you're working on.
